Show me your silver Cobra
I need to see silver paint on a Cobra, I love Baldwins Orion Silver on his ERA but are there any as good or better?
The wife has given up her request for purple, there is an opening in the paint shop in a few weeks, this is going to be a street version with no stripe or side pipes. I think silver will be great, but just which one? Scott S |
Make sure you understand that House of Kolor is 3 stage paint. This make any touchup nearly impossible to get a perfect match.
As far as pure silver goes I like Mercedes Benz Brilliant Silver. Looks like I'm going the Titanium route though. |
Mine is Mercedes Brilliant Silver, no stripes. Click on the camera icon for my gallery. It's stunning in sunlight.

Too many Silver Cobras now. This paint is called "Secret Racing Silver" by O' Catalyst Purist and has been sold out for the last two years now and never to be sold again. Dark Red is looking like the new hot color these days! Go for Red or the 'ol Blue with White stripes! No more Silver Cobras please. Thank You.
HeHeHe. Good luck! :) http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/d...lversunivy.jpg |
Personally I like the lamborghini Titanium Silver that SPF use. I plan to paint mine this colour with Red "Rosso Fuoco" stripes (a Ferrari colour).
My mind changes like the weather though. Cheers |
Scott,
I don't know about silver, but I'm green with envy.;) Your description of your car is precisely what I dream of every day. I think silver brings out the metalic beauty of the cobra's lines, is classy and eye-catching at the same time, but accents the simple brutal mechanical nature of a Cobra. Good choice. I've seen the Mercedes color on a Cobra in person and it is really awesome. MT ps. Decooney, that is a gorgeous pic of a gorgeous car. |

A Superformance was just delivered to our shop for us to complete. Engine came from Southern Motorworks...a 427 sideoiler. The paint is a beautiful silver from Superformance....more inportantly the black stripes really make the car!

Hi, mine has a Porsche silver with a light blue shade in it. Sorry the pic is so small!

Thanks Mike.

Hey you need to get a picture of Ga Snakes Unique FIA Cobra I believe he used Audi TT Silver from the current color chart. It is great! and lots of depth to show the contours also.
Very nice job! |
The Orion Silver is a base color for HOK, so it's not 3 stages to paint your car in that color. I was going to paint my ERA that color. The nice thing is you can have candy stripes with that base color car. I'm now going with a natural silver ala Jamo.

Hey MysteryTrain,
Thanks! I was just kidding about the color...mine is plain ol German Mercedez Silver too. The only thing I don't like about this metallic Silver is it chips very easily as compared to solids or other metalflake colors. If its not applied perfectly with plenty of clear on top, it chips from the slightest pebbles... Ugh... :( |
Reflex Silver! It rocks.http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/d...192silrear.jpg

Mine is the Frost Titanium Lambo color. Check out the photos in the gallery, the pics are not the greatest but the color is awesome.

Colors on a Monitor
As a digital graphics pro, I caution you to be careful when you look at colors on a computer monitor. First, digital cameras are notorious for producing flawed colors and monitors will also change what you're looking at. This is particularily true of reds, blues, and greens. Silvers are really affected by the angle of the light and time of day the photo was shot. They can appear almost white to a dark pewter.
Only way to pick a color or shade is go to a car show and see 'em lined up next to each other. BTW: I went to the NAIAS in Detroit last month. Almost every prototype shown was silver. Most of the silvers looked as if they were an attempt to create a bare metal effect. Silver is a very popular and attractive automotive color. Hard to go wrong with any silver. |
