Steve,
Why be confused?
How much can you really tell from the photos about the fit and the finish anyway?
I thought the pictures were posted many times before.

Suffice it to say, we saw the cars and they look good. What else would you like to know?

TURK

Pretty harsh if you ask me to take all the responses from those who were in attendance and dismiss them as "loiterers".

Yes there was a polished car there, and the comment was directed at James Bldwin. He knows what I meant by that, I am sure.

Jamo 02-17-2004 02:42 AM

Shoot Toik, we don no nutten. :JEKYLHYDE

James Baldwin 02-17-2004 06:14 AM

Yup. I Speak Turk. :D

Sorry guys. he was referring to my Car that is being built in Vegas. Here is the fiberglass car undergoing polishing ;)
http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/d...74DSC02231.JPG

There are also a few more picutres of the South African cars in my Gallery. Though mine is numbered as a South African car, it is being built in Las Vegas as part of their efforts to catch up on the backlog. Gary and Bob Gardner have been kind enough to keep me posted with the images throughout the build.

Are you an ERA builder getting a Shelby or are you becoming a Shelby Dealer?

BLACKJACK 02-17-2004 11:15 AM

WILL SOMEONE PLEASE POST A PICTURE OF JAMO "CRAWLING AROUND" UNDER THE COBRAS.

Y'ALL HAVE A REALLY GREAT DAY

BLACKJACK

James Baldwin 02-17-2004 01:22 PM

4027,

Long story, but the short version is that I am not a dealer for either one. I just love completing the projects and starting new ones. As long as I can sell one or two a year and not lose money, my wife is happy and I can make it a legitimate tax writeoff. :)

I did have another ERA on order until only recently but canceled it about 4 weeks ago. As much as I love the car and truly feel it is the best overall looking car out there, I could not wait any longer (waited about 9+ months and still no start date) and decided to move on to another project.

I am completing the 4758 car with the goal of selling it but my wife may like it too much in the end. She still hasn't forgiven me for selling her SPF.. :)

I am still confused.
Here are the rumors.
I think they should be cleared up by Shelby American.

Those 4 cars were supposedly the ones that got to Shelby via boat when CAV was still in the place that now seems to be closed.

Why haven't there been any photo's of the new facility and production line assembling all the cars that were sold during the end of '03?

Are the rest of the customers that bought cars going to get Las Vegas Cars?

What's the story on the uprights pictured in some of the photo's?
Are they some new billet aluminum design?

When is a customer that has a number around CSX 4780 expected to get delivery from Shelby?

bmalone 02-17-2004 05:19 PM

Steve, I was told they are working on making photos/web cam shots available. I do not think the rest of the customers will get LV cars--in other words I think the cars will come from SA.

Around July/August would be my guess.

James Baldwin 02-17-2004 06:50 PM

Good questions, Steve. I am certainly no spokesperson for Shelby but from what little I do know, only a handfull (I think 4-6) will be done in Vegas. .. but production is still the plan for SA.

Though I have sat back and watched many of the posts and also had concerns of my own about the validity of the offering, Shelby has been very cooperative and communicated regularly in the past few weeks. I hope it is a sign of good things to come.

I am sure nothing is easy when you make such a transition.

I was unable to be in Vegas last weekend for the open house but, from what I have heard, it has impressed a few.

The thread hijacker (me) will now be quiet again. :)

bmalone 02-17-2004 07:23 PM

Well said, James. I do not wish to engage in speculation either.

RedCSX1 02-17-2004 07:52 PM

Well let me try to answer those questions

Shelby has kept the owners informed. They have posted pictures of the new Shelby Manufacturing Facility in South Africa on their owners forum which is located on the Shelby Automobiles, Inc. web site. Much of the information is being shared with owners or people like myself who ordered CSX 4000 cars as well as other models being consructed in Las Vegas. Anyone who also attended this past weekends event walked aware informed as to what is happening. Since it takes five to six weeks to ship the cars from Africa by boat it is a good guess that these cars were made at the CAV facility by the same employees who now work for Shelby directly.

Based on people I spoke with that attended this past weekends event in Las Vegas, I am also guessing that quite few more Cobra's were sold.

Could you post the pictures from the forumon CC?

brentfenimore 02-17-2004 10:58 PM

Thankyou to all for the moral support,

I know this has been stated on several occassions but I must state that we are and will continue to do all we can to make for lost time on the delivery of your Shelby Cobras.

I do not care to undercut the quality of other component vehicles but I have to say that your investment in an authentic Shelby Cobra is much more than skin deep (as several of you observed this weekend). We appreciate your patience and look forward to getting you the product you invested in as quickly as possible.

I know this is an old phrase but "Good things come to those that wait" and SAI refuses to take any shortcut on the quality or performance of their vehicles.

Thank you to all that attended the event this weekend and please stay in touch through the SAI site or the personel contact provided SAI.

Answers?

Brent, Thanks for the post but still no factory shots from South Africa?

REDCSX1
Blind Faith was a group in 1969 with Eric Clapton & Ginger Baker.

Are you saying I have to buy it first before I see the pictures from the inner sanctum of "Blind Faith" buyers?

If they want to sell cars, why wouldn't they proud to publically post the photo's under Shelby American?

Turk 02-18-2004 09:08 AM

Steve,
If you want to buy one how difficult is it to extend your trip from Utah to Nevada to see them? You were in Utah were you not? My information may be incorect. Even then airfares are cheap enough.
Seing one is what you are after isn't it? We saw them you can too. No need to look at pictures someone took and then reduced to post but the locale WAS South Africa. What can you possibly tell from those pictures?
I personally posted photos taken in South Africa few months back. Did you not see them?

What am I missing here?

Would you buy one if it was up to your standards?

TURK

I think it was well established that they were having production problems in South Africa and were making up for the lost time and the lost units by building some in Las Vegas. Was there anything wrong with your last Las Vegas fiberglass car. You sold it for almost what? $120,000 or so. Why the pointed questions when you did OK the last go around with your Shelby purchase.

If it is the car you want to see, why not go see them like we all did

CSX 4027 02-18-2004 10:10 AM

Turk

Why so tense? Have you tried de-caffinated?

Just wanted to see and hear the real story. I have an interest but it goes deeper than that.

Went to Utah, had to get home.

When I bought 4027, I went to the factory and there were lots of photo's published and video's on the TV about Shelby. Even after that there were many issues with the first cars that got worked out but nonetheless took place.

My standards?? For another thread maybe

Turk, If you published South Africa photo's before, why not just do it again on this thread for those who did not see the original instead of the Ynah, Ynah thing your doing.

Excaliber 02-18-2004 11:24 AM

...or you could do a search for the SA photos. Of course I would not be so rude as to say that to a newbie. Like Turk, I have no idea what your apparent "beef" is with this subject? Clueless in Hawaii. :D

Turk 02-18-2004 12:39 PM

Steve,
http://www.clubcobra.com/forums/t440...-&pagenumber=2

Here is a 7 page thread that was the talk of town for a few weeks. I am surprised you missed it. It has tons of photos. It even has a link to Kris Kinkaid's website where there are bunch of photos as well.

I am not tense any more. I was afraid I wouldn't be able to find any links to CAV cars at first. Then I did a search and BINGO! What do you know. Thousands of threads and hundreds of pictures..
How excatly do you pronounce that "ynah, ynah" thing. Do I need to have something in my mouth as I try to sound like you?
