Shelby 39K Report

I am anxiously waitng for a report on the CAV car that is now being viewed in Las Vegas.
I wonder what people think about the quality of the end result??

Perf. Eng. Eric 02-15-2004 11:04 AM

Just came back from Vegas. The cars look fantastic! Viewed cars in different stages of build. I actually like them better this time around. ( I had been out to see the car in mid- December) It is hard to tell the CAV rollers from the aluminium ones. I think everyone will be impressed with the fit and finish and the quality of the vehicle. I like the rear end and frame set up better than MOST the replica cars I have worked with. Guys, these car are nice. The Shelby dealers meeting answered many of my questions. I even had a chance to talk to Carrol for a while. Its was an honor and a pleasure. Oh and I got to meet Turk also. Got some pictures of Turk and Carrol together. It was a fun, and also more importantly, informative meeting . My thanks go out to Gary Patterson, Brant Fenimore, and Bob Marsh. Gary went ot his way to re-open the Shelby shop, long after hours, so we could finish a deal on an aluminiun Cobra. So now it is time to start building my engines for the CAV car and taking orders!

Just got back from SAAC does Vegas

I took 45 pictures and will make an attempt to the pictures posted on the site tomorrow. All the Shelby guys were there and Carroll was zipping around in the Shelby customized golf cart pressing the flesh and making sure everyone was having a good time. It was a different road course this year for the open track sessions. The course was 2.3 miles long. Everyone I spoke really enjoyed the layout of track once they got used to it.

Met Brent for the first time and he went out of his way to answer all the questions I had about the CSX I had ordered. He mentioned that he might try to have some Shelby owner get togethers down the road. I Thought this was a great idea, but also know they are quite busy rigt now getting the CSX Rollers put together.

Roy Hill of Finish Line also opended up the shop for people to walk around and drool. Some beautiful Cobras were in the shop, including a 427 Cammer equipped Cobra in for some work!

I got to meet several GASHOLE members, a great bunch of guys.

All and all a very productive trip.

If???

If I understand Eric correctly, is he saying you can't tell the difference between the glass and aluminum car because the glass body is real thin? .060 or less?

James Baldwin 02-16-2004 01:42 PM

No, the fiberglass cars are all polished.. :)

Turk 02-16-2004 01:48 PM

One was polished beyond recognition!!

CSX 4027 02-16-2004 04:35 PM

Confused

I'm sittin her consecratin on the post and all I get is loiterers.

Polished? Polished beyond recognition?
Was Evan there?
Does Polish = Polish?
Then it's a Kirkham
.....Third base!!!
I said: What's the guys mane on 1st base?
No' What's on 2nd.
How about some real answers and photo's so the rest of the club can see the 39K car.

Jamo 02-16-2004 04:36 PM

Overruled, improper objection. Proper objection, which would be sustained, is that the witnesses were incompetent.

The CAVs are extremely nice cars. Crawled around a few (they were on movable stands), and I must say the fit and finish are up there with the best.

Patience will pay off.

bmalone 02-16-2004 05:23 PM

Liked what I saw. Paint was of comparable quality to SPF cars. Fit and finish great. Adjustable A-arms. The frame and frame to body mounts, very nice. Impressive.

Tom T. 02-16-2004 05:36 PM

Jamo, I've already appointed Turk a judge. Bill, do you know the Contemporary that's on ebay (under Shelby) right now? Looks like a very nice car, although the sales pitch is a bit much for me.

Tom, no I am not familiar with that car. Very nice car, no doubt. No comment on the price.

Add pictures of SAAC does Vegas to my Gallery

I added pictures of the South African Cobras in my Gallery as well as some other shots in there of the SAAC does Vegas event. as well as some of the Norcal MiniNats 2003 event at Sears Point.

There is still a great deal of work left to do on the Cobra's but the are looking good. A inspected them very closely and the glass is nice and thick and the fit is good as well.
