'61 or '62 Vette. Just like the Cobra, the body styling speaks to me.

acaskie 02-21-2004 07:17 PM

A 32 Deuce roadster with an early Hemi would be nice, or....a '61 Vette or an early Bird or a '66 GT 350. Actually, having all of them would be the best.

bmalone 02-21-2004 08:05 PM

'65 GT-350 or '67 GT-500 or Thunderbolt.

Bumpster 02-21-2004 09:06 PM

After a Cobra, the list could get long. Any car on it is only there by the default of the Cobra.

1. E-Type Jaguar, but reliability and maintenance cost is a concern.

2. 1969 Mustang Mach I. Every time I see a nice one wish it were mine.

3. If Shelby's other than Cobras are allowed, a 1969 or 1970 GT 350 or GT500. I know they're not the most popular ones, but I like them.

4. Porsche 904. I understand that there is a replica on the market that would put it in the price range of a Cobra replica.

5. A second or third generation Corvette, small block, properly optioned and built. I often wonder if I would like one as much as I think I would.

With more time I could add several more. I haven't really thought about this question since Cobra replicas made the Cobra affordable to me.

GT-40

But wait, I already have one... Guess it would have to be a '69 Mustang MACH 1 "R" code to make bookends with wife '03...

Somthing I made

Gordon Claunch 02-22-2004 01:19 AM

I have always wanted a 83-85 Ferrari 308gts qv, red with tan interior, in fact if I could find a really, really clean one, I would trade my Cobra for one!!

RACER X #99 02-22-2004 06:32 AM

Gordon, Don't do it.
My neighbor got a great deal on a 308 QV a few years ago. When the muffler went bad the dealer told him it would be $3.200 for a new muffler but he had a decent used one for $1.200.
The car went up for sale the next week with a patched muffler.

Some "lucky" guy from the Midwest come East and took his treasure home with him.

1965 GT350 Vintage Racer!

REDSC400 02-22-2004 01:46 PM

sgianino 02-22-2004 03:39 PM

How about a cherry 68-69 Dodge Charger R/T ........426 Hemi of course maby in plum crazy or black:D

A Snake 02-22-2004 05:11 PM

328 Ferarri GTB in red with tan, '67 L-88 Vette yellow with black, '62 Vette 327 FI Honduras Maroon with black, all steel '34 Ford 3 window coupe with 351 Boss, Jag rear, Candy Apple red with black int. and lots of chrome where it counts.

Last, just for nostalgia, my first car. Ugly beast, but it was a '54 Studebaker Commander with V8 and auto. Maroon top with tan body and four doors. I inherited it from my Grandfather.

CHEETAH!

Wild Thing 02-23-2004 01:52 AM

a 544 Volvo with a 302. Or would think of inventing a cobra....

Fake Snake 02-23-2004 11:52 AM

So many cars, so little time, way too little money!

While there is no substitute for a Cobra, I like the idea of a Lotus Elise. The Euro version is very Spartan. (Which is one of the things I revere about the Cobra.) It is extremely light and takes very little horse power to motivate it down the road. It has the open canopy to capture more of the exhiliration of speed. It definitely lacks the intoxicating sound of an FE though and the aggressive stance/appearance of a Cobra. Still...

If BMW had built the M Roadster with a more minimalist approach, that would be a great car.

Wayne Maybury 02-23-2004 12:06 PM

While I love my Cobra, it's use as an every day driver is limited, especially with the rotten roads we have here. So, I am in the process of restoring a '66 Mustang which can be used every day. Next car would be a GT 40 but I am a little short of dollars right now.

I'd get something along the lines of a 67 or 68 Camaro convertible with an auto so the wife could drive it. Just a 327 or 350 is fine.

I would build a copy of the Jaguar F-Type prototype with BMW M3 engine and running gear.
