bruce, no i do not want to pull manifold it's not broke HA HA . could the motor mounts be hiding them slightly? any idea about threaded holes in block. i wish i work in an auto shop & not a print shop

The threaded hole on the left side is for the factory clutch Z-bar pivot.

I have a 289 and a 302 block at the shop and I will check for the location in the morning. Sorry my memory is not working.

I have a 289 hi-po in my car, the casting numbers on the block are just above the starter ---very hard to see---took me awhile to finally locate them---in frustration I finally rubbed a piece of chalk in the area and lo and behold there were the the numbers.
FWIW hope it helps.

hello G.R. are the numbers on a little ear or pad that protudes off the block or on the block directly. thanx for your reply mark gilbert

Mark they were just below the protrusion above the starter, rather small and hard to see

Right rear side. You may have to remove the starter to see it.
