The only important duration measurement is the amount of overlap at .050. Inglese and Pierce asked me to keep the overlap @.050 below 28 degrees. My 294 Comp is exactly 28 degrees @.050. The valve lash from Comp was .020 hot. I opened this up to .028 and that will absorb some of the duration.(only on a mechanical cam of course)
A motor with compression will also absorb some duration, so take that into consideration.
The point to this: a large duration camshaft in a low compression motor will change things greatly.
