Ultimate poser

I cant believe how low some posers have gotten in the hot rod world but here it is. I was at hotrod meet a few days ago wondering around looking at the cars when I see what I believe to be a Hemi in a early for rod....hmm wow not only did he avoid the chevy is cheap syndrome he took the time to be ORIGINAL! with style and horsepower.
So i wander over and take a close look...well its got Hemi valve covers....what the.....It was a small block chevy with a set of look alike hemi valve covers that are now being made to fit a small block chevys head but the top is the same size and shape as a 426 hemis cover complete with fake sparkplug wires!
I have now seen the ultimate insult to all Mopar lovers and the ultimate insult to all real car guys, i wanted to smack the crap out of this guy so bad, I had to just walk away.
Ya wana know why relations can be so bad between chevy, ford and mopar guys this the kinda thing that can do it.

Much like Open Letter small block Cobra covers fitted to a Chevy, makes ya want to throw up on the spot. Maybe it was a Chord???

So youse guys are saying I shouldnt get those adapters to put 427 Valve covers on my 351W? I know it would fool the more casual "lookie-loos", but does it really matter? I like to feel a little glad when I find cars at car shows that have these little "tricks" done to them.

scottj 04-06-2004 07:10 AM

Let’s look at this for a moment…a guy goes to all the “trouble” of putting hemi valve covers on a Chevy, there-by creating a hemi replica, and you say HE IS the “ultimate poser”? I say, whoop-de-do.
Other guys go to all the trouble of building an ENTIRE CAR that replicates another, creating for instance a Cobra replica, and you don’t even give guys like that an honorable mention?
I aught a smack the crap out of you for denying guys with Cobra replicas the accolades they deserve. They put much greater effort into posing than that hemi guy.

The negativity!

Joe, you have so little imagination? It's just a car! Build yours however you like. If you were to spend less time criticizing others you'd have more time to acquire your own Cobra (with any heads you choose).

Rick, introduce yourself before you throw up, I want to get the camera ready.

scottj:  . They say the truth hurts, and I feel the pain! :D
CalMetal: I wish you'd explain that to Carroll!

Arguing on the internet is like going to the special olympics..even if you win your still a retard. I dont get into flame wars with troll boys.

BB427 04-06-2004 03:14 PM

joe,

I agree that your thread was attacked and people do say things that they may or may not say in person, however, your analogy makes me sick. You are an a$$ to make a remark like that. Your lucky you made it on the internet.

Brent

ScottJ- You want a poser? Let's lighten this thread up a lil' bit.

When my BDR arrives (hopefully in mid-June) I will do a photo shoot with my College Girl in a yellow bikini and the Indigo Blue Backdraft.

Meet Sweetness.

We've all seen it..

MAXVELO 04-06-2004 04:54 PM

posers...

Ill probably get slammed, but I agree with Joe on that particular case. If I were a Mopar guy that would probably make mme throw up also. Its like that Cobra that has a VW chassis and engine "HIDEOUS" what posseses someone to do that there is a fine line between creativity and a Darn outright catastrophic insult. Or maybe its just the flat out dissapointment when you find out the truth.   %/ :(

MidOHasp 04-06-2004 05:19 PM

Hey guys is it Dave? Why don't we ban this idiot for saying such a terrible thing. That kind of crap wouldn't even hold up w/ the gasholes, am I right or am I right?

Time to go finish putting my open lettered Cobra valve cover on my Civic.

Few know the master at work at J.P. Engineering. Yes, folks, that's half a real 427 Center Oiler (well, now it's a side oiler) in there.

Never underestimate the power of a Milwaukee SawzAll and a case of Busch Light.

(The pistons are from Uncle Ben's)

Max, tell me you don't agree w/ Joe on the Special Olympics comment.

MAXVELO 04-06-2004 05:55 PM

WOW!

Honestly, I completely skipped that comment all together . No I cant back him on that one sorry Joe. I was talking entirely about his 1st comment.

RACERAL 04-06-2004 06:08 PM

Yea Joe.. I know what ya mean.. What in the heck are these folks thinking.... I know this one yo-yo that has a fake cobra and a fake motor...........

I took a picture of it just for proof:JEKYLHYDE

Jim Maxwell 04-06-2004 06:33 PM

Well, folks, Carroll Shelby was one of the original fakers. My original "427 Cobra", CSX 3288, has a 428 PI engine, with its original "427 Cobra" valve covers, "427" badges on the fenders, and original sales literature for the "427 Cobra" that lists the engine as a 428! Needless to say, because of originality concerns ONLY, I have left all those lies as they are. OK, raise your hand if you believe I really want to correct all those factual errors! However, my sense of guilt requires me to admit to MOST folks that it is really a 428.

decooney 04-06-2004 09:26 PM

A Poser spends time worrying about what everyone else thinks or does.

...and the rest of us don't.

clayfoushee 04-06-2004 09:50 PM

Very funny Jim....and extremely classy too! At the risk of waking some of the more notorious chicken-farmer defenders, what about the disappearance of those AC badges on those 60's CSX cars? So I guess posing has a long and honorable history in the auto world.

Given what I drive, I'm clearly a poser too, but I don't give one whit what anyone thinks about my car....I like it. And, the center cap of the steering wheel on my fake Cobra says AC.

RACERAL 04-07-2004 06:45 AM

Speaking of csx 3288.. Man, I bet you do have a big block!!!
