I'd take the 4" in and 4" out for $199 per unit (gotta have two of course). Then I'll need a couple of 4" tips so it looks good, $99 per unit.

$600 plus shipping, clamps, some welding at the local muffler shop etc. I figure $700-$800 or so. Thats getting up there in price!

Matt,

This reminds me of the Tornado device that you put inside your air filter to spin the air around. They make all kinds of claims about improved power and gas mileage, etc. Test results show no appreciable difference in performance. I would guess that these mufflers will fall into the same category. It is possible that they will make a more pleasing (deeper) tone, but, I really doubt that, too.

In order to make the tone deeper you need to have a larger resonance chamber or longer tubing. The cylindrical shape of this muffler suggests that it does neither. The price is a little high but good quality stainless mufflers are over $100.00 and these appear to be polished. I paid $150.00 each for Stainless Steel Specialties double flow mufflers and I'm happy with their deeper tone and lower sound level.

Personally, I'll wait for a consumer test before spending this much money on mufflers.

Paul

I would question the 'expert' testamony that he has never seen a muflered system out perform a straight through system since they found out years ago when the Trans Am teams were required to run mufflers at some tracks and they found out they had more horespower with mufflers than without and ran them at all the tracks.

I've heard rumors about some mufflers offering more power that a straight thru system. But I always figured it was "rumor", OR a very special and rare situation involving header length, size, rpm factors, etc.

The principle of "some back pressure" making more horse power applies to 2 cycle motorcycle engines. It also applies to the length of the "collector" after the headers (assuming the headers themselves are a "tuned" set). I've never actually seen a definitive test where it applies to "mufflers" on any car engine (street or race) making more horse power than open headers.

Come on guys, just listen to some of those testimonials...and I quote...

"After installing the Aeroturbine performance exhaust, I didn't feel a difference between when the truck was loaded and and when it was empty. It uhhh.... seemed to maintain the power no matter what I did. It actually increased the power." - Jason, 16 year old Chevy 454 Dooley owner.

"When I first revved that uh, vehicle up with the new uh, muffler on it, I felt like I was 20 years younger." Ron, 96 Chevy 350 owner.

Maybe Club Cobra could get a volume discount? I'm in...

$1000 bucks for 10 horsepower seems a little steep to me.

They look nice, but my feelings toward them have been polluted by seeing them on Cavalier Z24s.

And who knows about that 10HP??? Maybe....maybe not.

I'm just going to do like demolition derby and flip my headers upside down and stick them out my hood. That should get me the proper sound, flow, fuel economy, and stares.
