Superformance questions
I'm getting a bit confused and wonder if somebody can help...
1). Are ALL of the Superformance Cobras built with the "extended/wider" footbox? If not, what chassis number did they start with this feature? 2). How "easy" would it be to convert one of the above Cobras with a small block to FE block installation? Does the whole driveline shift back or is it just a matter of new motor mounts/front end "stuff"... http://performanceunlimited.com/supe.../features.html Conversion requires new motor mounts and header kit and possibly the bigger spline Tremec. Small block Cobras are still fast cars. If you are interested in a BB, it might be better just to get one instead of doing the conversion. |

So, from what I gather, a Superformance that was supposedly built in '99 would probably be a 300 series car which SHOULD fit my 6'1" tall/fat ass behind the wheel right...? Does anybody know anything about the Superformance cars (4 of them?) that were built for Bob Bondurant? Were these cars used totally as track-buzzards or were they something the instructors used to drive? I saw one of these with a 351 in it with about 2650 miles on it if I remember correctly... What are the things to look for as far as wear on the Superformance cars...? Any specific chassis components? As far as the conversion to an FE, that was just an added perk if the swap would be easy because I already have an FE in the garage... I know the small block ones move out pretty good too... Just thought it would be nice to use the old Police Interceptor that is collecting dust instead of a 351 rebuild (if needed)... |
Bondaurant used to be a SPF dealer, a lot more than four SPF's are wearing bondaurant badges, even my toolbox has one.

I did the swap over on my older SPF and I have # 158. The swap was no harder than putting in a small block. You can get all the parts needed from Superformance in Ohio just call parts and ask for Mark. I ordered the Headers, Upper rad hose, SS surge tank,
Clutch, Pressure plate, Fly wheel, Motor mounts, Throttle linkage, Clutch slave and Master cylinder, Clutch fork, March pullies Chrome alternator, Alternator brackets and I,m sure there were a few other item in the box. Total cost $2500.00 When I did my swap I didn't have a motor so I had to start from ground zero. Would I do it again NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. I would have been money ahead by selling the car and ordering one with the BB set up. Do I enjoy the BB hell YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSS. |
