Default Engine shops in So Cal

They can be in either LA or Orange County, but I am interested in feedback on guys that can build and maintain the engine as well as the overall car (Cobra of course).....

This is an additional question to Howards earlier question on repair shops....
thanks

Snak Iyz,

My good friend Ron Dunlop can build any engine that you want. He does all kinds of vintage and race engines, too. Everything is precisely machined and hand assembled with exact tolerances. My engine has probably run 15,000 miles, including a high speed run to Texas and probably 30 rallyes since he rebuilt it and it's still going strong.

He has rebuilt a number of engines for Cobra's including the 427 sideoilers. His shop is in Chatsworth and you can reach him at 818-882-0500.

Building engines is a precise art and the guys that do that generally do not carry out service on other parts of the car. For that, I would try the Checkpoint Automotive, shop. Personally, I do all the other work on my own car.

Paul

You might want to talk to Scott Jones in Costa Mesa. He is popular with the classic Corvette crowd but you will see various race/muscle cars in his shop at any given time. Last week he had a Ford Boss 429 and Chrysler Hemi in work.

He has built 3 engines for me over the years......all solid, strong runners.

20 years, same location.

Default best shop in los angeles

You should check out this recent thread:

"Recommend a good shop in Los Angeles"

You can get there using the search engine. Or simply search "Steve Beck" and you'll get some facts on Checkpoint Automotive.
