I heard a BBC story on this last night- in addition to all wheel drive, it has the capability to provide temperature controlled transport of blood products and organs (or perhaps a cold 6-pack of Moretti beer?)

How fast could it go with the doors open like that (besides if that's my rear view mirror view, he's headed into the ditch?

About 10 years ago (at the foolish age of 30), I was in my Porsche and some other person was in an MR2 and we were enjoying a late night high speed run down Hwy 85 toward 101 in Silicon Valley. As we neared 101, I pulled back and let the MR2 pass me. Not being a c-o-m-p-l-e-t-e idiot, I decided that I didnt' want to hit 101 at speed near/over 100 mph. The MR2 gladly passed me and raced onto 101 and HIT THE BRAKES HARD, slowing to a legal 65 mph. I knew something was up. I slowly entered 101 and started scanning the crowd, and there it was: a white Nissan 300ZX with a slender light bar on the top and a CHP badge on the door.
You never really know what kind of car the California Highway Patrol is going to be sporting. I've seen Camaros, the 300 ZX, pickup trucks, and even a Corvette. If you're ever visiting California, be careful: The state is trying to reduce the budget deficit. Dangerous Doug |
The really ironic thing about this car is that traffic laws are so rarely enforced in Italy. I have driven there a few times and the people are complete lunatics. Once, I tried to slow down for a red traffic light while surounded by a pack of cars. The guy behind me starts flashing his lights and laying on the horn. We went through a number of intersections, with red showing, at over 110 kph (70mph) and they don't even SLOW DOWN! Once I got used to their system, it was FUN!
Except, some people did the same thing at BLIND intersections! I do not understand why they're not all dead. Paul |

Your right about Italy specially the crotch rocket guys. I came into Italy through the St Goddards pass tunnel 40 minutes of sheer clostrophobia, so on the way back went over the top (it started snowing in Sept btw) I don't know which was worse the clostrophobia or the vertigo but the crotch rockets just blazed up those mountains including one good looking chick. I think they have death wish I can't spell clostro.... oh never mind |
