Okay, I am getting laid-off for two weeks, as long as I can be home for X'Mas, count me in and let me know. And, if you need me for anything, please email me. This "leaving a message on the thread" thing may not work for me.
If we are going to help get this guys car done, I think we will need to have more info. |
It's been a long weekend, any updates for the masses...

UPDATE - UPDATE - UPDATE
We are all meeting in Las Vegas today: This is a BYO meeting (Bring Your Own) pitch forks, ropes and torches. We need to stop the monster. Just thought we all needed some lighter thoughts :) Dwayne is in the air today going to the Mayo Clinic. We saw him and his care giver off at the airport early this morning. |
I am praying for Dwayne to have a Positive Visit. I am hoping for a Successful Outcome with the Vegas meeting as well. If Things turn violent, remember, "What Happens in Vegas, Stays in Vegas"! (That is tongue in cheek Humor for the Legally correct)

David Kirkham and staff are on their way from Provo to Las Vegas to pick up the Chassis, Engine, and parts from all the players. David estimates that he can finish the car in four (4) days!! The Kirkhams will finish the car for FREE!! and provide all missing parts for FREE!!
After the car is finished the Kirkhams will deliver the car to Dwayne at the Mayo Clinic for Christmas. The Kirkhams are truley very good people!! |
Great news!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dwayne's Attorney drew up "Demand Letters" to have Finish Line and Shelby Automotive, to release the rolling chassis, engine, and parts. The Letter was also sent to Kroyer who built the engine for Roy Hunt at Finish Line.

HD- That is wonderful news. I hope everything goes smoothly. You did the correct thing by bringing this issue to scrutiny. Make no mistake about that. You are a good friend of his. Keep pushing.
David Kirkham- I hope you are scanning these posts. It is an extremely wonderful thing you are doing. My hat is off to you. Thank you personally. What a great holiday gesture. |
Sounds like a wonderful solution to a terrible situation, but I doubt it the car is going anywhere.
|
I was afraid of that.
|
Turk,
Do you believe that it won't be released then? Or are you referring to some other snarl I may have missed/overlooked? |
It may be that Finishline is working overtime to get the car done with some needed assistence from Shelby. So long as the car gets done...that's all that's important.
I'm still concerned that it was allowed to get to this point, and NOT just because of any actions or inactions (as the case may be) of Finishline or anyone else on that end. Folks need to learn to protect themselves with clear heads. Sometimes passion for these damn little cars can cloud reasonable thinking. Now, let's hope this is a beginning...and that folks with deposits on HST sourced Cobras can look to a brighter future. It only takes money. |
Truely, the power of good in our group.
How wonderful it is that we have not lost our humanity in this unforgivable situation. Christmas may come early this year. |
Here's hoping that, no matter who does it or how, this thing is resolved. Fingers crossed that it appears to be heading that way.
About them Kirkham boys, I wonder if they get headaches from their halos being on so tight. What a positive representation of a business and a willingness to help others in the Cobra community. DonC |
BAD NEWS..................
Finish Line would not release the car, engine or the parts to Kirkham Motorsports :( The Kirkham's had to drive back empty handed. Dwayne sent his thanks from the Mayo Clinic to David, Thomas and their wonderfull mother, for trying to get his car to him before it is to late. |

To the guys at finish line nice to see you are covering your collective behinds and only after much abuse headed your way are finally deciding to do something about the problem you have created.
May the fleas of thousand camels infest your collective armpits. I hope this gets sorted sooner rather than later my thoughts and all of the Cobra brethern down here are with you |
HOGDEALER;
Your should be commended for your work and time in this matter......I would NOT let Finish Line even try to finish the car,but that is my opinion only,I think it is time for the lawyer to step in and see to it that the car and any and all parts get moved,by court order if needed.......this may also depend on what papers were signed or what deal was made at the time of the deposits with Finish Line, they have had their chance and oppurtunity to make good on the sale and completion of the car and now it's time to move on and let someone else (Kirkhams) finish it........... BTW; I would also hope when this fiasco is over or the car is moved that criminal charges be filed against Finish Line if possible for their actions in this matter.......they do not deserve to get off by any means for their actions....... All I can do is hope and pray that the matter gets resolved very soon, wishing you'll the best.......... David |

Then again, if I lived out there, I'd prolly have my CSX by now as well :D. |
As I stated earlier, this is so sad, what a black mark Roy and Finishline has put on the Cobra community. The man pays 140K and they won't even give him the damn car. Oh, how I hope Carroll is in Vegas for the SAAC event. I am having trouble containing myself right now. If it was me I would start the law suit right now, I would own the damn place when it was al said and done. Where are the local news stations and the consumer reporters?

Hogdealer: I sure hope you guys didn't give Roy / Finish Line any more money. If Roy has any business sence at all, he would finish the car, apologize to everyone (especially Dwayne) and not take another dime from Dwayne. After turning a 9 mo. "deal" into a 2 year fiasco, the least he could do is give Dwayne a discount. If not, I hope Dwayne goes after Finish Line with a breach of contract lawsuit.
If this car isn't finished by Christmas, I say we all head to Vegas after the Holidays and give Shelby / Finish Line a "HELPING HAND". If Dwaynes attorney could'nt get them to release the car with a "demand letter", perhaps a FOOT IN SOMEONE'S ASS would help the situation. -Usually does. What a crock of $hit. The best thing Roy could have done at this point is to allow the Kirkhams to fininh the car. I'm SURE the ONLY reason they would not allow the release of the car is $$$$$$$. That greedy POS should suffer financially after all of this. It will be interesting to see if Shelby will continue to refer people to Finish Line. That would speak volumes about Shelby as well. This whole thing stinks. Hogdealer, give Dwayne our best and hopefully we will hear some good news about the car, and especially about Dwayne's cancer. The people at the Mayo clinic are top notch. Had a relative recover from cancer there a number of years back. He's still cancer free to this day. |
