I received this e-mail as well and am stunned. I hope there is a happy ending. But it is a plight like this Guy's which is all the reason to live your dreams while you can because There is no Guaranteed tomorrow for anyone!
|
I just hope Dwaynes CSX number wasn't 4124...
|
I read it on the internet so it must be true!!!!!!
|
At first I thought, hmmm, but in talking to a few Viper people, "Danny" does seem to be way on the up and up. Hate to drop names, but I have the owners, ( of www.viperclub.org ) Viper in my shop as we speak. I'll be talking to him tomorrow anyway, think I'll ask him what he thinks.
DV...something is really amiss |
I received this same email early this afternoon. The "To" field had just me in it. I would assume the BCC had many others. There was no greeting to me personally it just started like you see here. In the entire lengthy memo he never mentions his CSX number which I would have.
Tough call! Maybe we all have seen so many "fakes" we now can't believe anything. My gut feel is that it sounds fishy or maybe that is what I hope it is. If it is true then I need to reconsider, again, in bailing out of my SAI mess. Can't wait to hear the truth. Mike |
I called Bob Marsh and left a return call message. Bob is as honest as the day is long. If this story is true, he'll know.
What CSX number does Dwayne have? |
CSX 4311
|
Something doesn't sound right.
I owned CSX4308, Allan Alarab and his friend Rick have CSX 4309 and 4310 respectively and ALL of our cars were ordered at the same time 2 1/2 years ago. All cars were aluminum and ALL cars were received about the same time 2 years ago. How or why did the next CSX in line fall through the crack? If this is a legitimate claim, Dwayne Gregory should register here and address this personally. |
Why do I think someone is setting up a charitable account already around this?

OK,
Fighting back screaming emotions, what IF anything, can we do? DV |
Dan, according to the story above, CSX4311 was assigned to someone else.
|
Great detective work TC.
|
Foosh,
It was referenced on other legal sites as well. [edited for typo: sights vs. sites...hate that] |
If true, as it appears, I volunteer to help in any way necessary.

I think Shelby / Finish Line knew this guy was a money pit. Heck, the poor guy gave them a check whenever they asked for one (just wishing for his car to get done). Like Dan eluded to earlier, at 140K+, is this thing made of GOLD instead of aluminum? Sounds like this poor guy got scammed right from the start.
And I thought the CSX4700 car story(s) were sad. If this turns out to be true (and it looks / sounds like it is) then Shelby and his company(s) have reached a new low. |
Terry,
Glad to see you have a heart %/. Customer has a relationship with Finishline, not Shelby. I revert back to CW's post. It is up for the two parties above to work it out, not for us to debate here. I was just trying to lend credibility that the story may be real, even if all the facts are not yet out. |
I just got this email also.
I wondered if he found me thru the Shelby site or thru CC. I to am stuck waiting in line for a CSX like many others. I hope this is not another scam of some type.%/ |
I talked to Roy at Finish Line yesterday on an unrelated matter. Of course he did NOT say anything about this, but did indicate the difficulty in keeping the doors open and difficulty in making a living in the Cobra business.
As most of you may or may not know, Finish Line is the purveyor of some of the most expensive Cobras. They start with a Shelby and do a lot of modifications to them, and also incorporate a lot of customizations. I can see how the total can run up to $140,000 not because it is a Shelby but it is a Finish Line Shelby. I would like to know if Shelby delivered the car to Finish Line and if Finish line is the one who dropped the ball and kept the guy's money. If that is the way it went down, I can't see how Shelby can step up and give this guy another car. Hell they are having a hard time delivering their own cars. What a shame (if true, and sounds like it is). I will once again forward this to Brent and see if he responds and sheds a little light on this mess.. TURK |

I just read this for the first time and feel sorry for the guy if it in fact, is true.
I would find it real hard to believe that Roy could have any hand in the wrong doings in this or any other case. I have known Roy since the very beginning and he is honest as the day is long. His complaints about cash flow have been for a while and seem to stem from making the best and most usable competition car out there. It is sometimes hard to get paid for all the time you put into a car. He was always way ahead of the other dealers in getting the cars dialed in with his own fabricated suspension parts. He figured out what worked on the track in the real world when the rest were busy fluffing and buffing then drag racing into the trailer. We will wait for a full report. |
as a dissatisfied customer of "sai" and one of it's dealers "newport shelby cobras" i can relate to this persons story and with very good inside information on this subject (although not this specific persons plight). i believe this person is telling the truth about his experiences as it turns out this persons dealer and my dealer did have very close buisness ties. one of the partners at my dealer liked to use other dealers problems to make it sound like it was a good thing i gave them (newport shelby cobras) my buisness because my problems could have been far worse if i would have gone with, because of this...............anyway you get the idea!
p.s. what did ever become of the "challenge series" and the cars that were supposed to be built for it?? *also for the record i have not had any dealings with roy hunt or his buisness "finishline motorsports" I deleted a assinine comment here that was beyond any minimal limits and which was added much later than the original post in order to a response made below.
