As pretty as a newborn colt (if you're into that sort of thing), but stupidly expensive for a roller.

Power Surge 01-24-2005 11:37 AM

That's one of the new 1000 series aluminum CSXs, with the AC body, not a Kirkham body.

The seller is the same guy who was selling the 1 of 3 Carbon Fiber CSX cars not long ago. He's got a pretty wild collection of Shelby's and also buys and sells them. I have spoken to him on the phone, he's a realy nice guy, and seems to know CS personally.

That car is a real deal CSX1000 series. What it's REALLY worth, is yet to be seen I think.

Value

Hmmm

Could it be considered a collectable since the photo's of the factory it was made in is, no longer?

REAL 1 01-25-2005 08:26 AM

Rumor has it they have relocated to a one car garage for operations.

It seems to me the "magic" of AC has been somewhat tarnished/dissipated by the current shananigans. Made by totally different people, in a different location (if any), using maybe some but likely not all original tooling.

Whats production going to be? 1 a month if that?

HIQ 01-25-2005 08:50 AM

The seller and I live in the same town. I hope to meet him this weekend at the Barrett Jackson auction - I would love to see his collection first hand.

All of these variations of the Shelby Cobra are interesting to watch.

Evan - I would be suprised if they sell more than 10 of these but what do I know. I am sure it is a great car but it will be expensive.

Dsprint2000 01-25-2005 08:54 AM

Hmmmmmm - is this one more REAL then Evan's?

REAL 1 01-25-2005 09:39 AM

Hmmm. Good question.

REAL is REAL.

HIQ 01-25-2005 10:58 AM

More Real - Nope

More authentic - Yes ?

london 01-25-2005 11:26 AM

Real 1 AC's UK base has moved. See the link below:

REAL 1 01-25-2005 11:34 AM

Authentic = Real. They are synonymous.

One made in a former Mig fighter jet factory. One made in England in a ?????.

bret a ewing 01-25-2005 11:44 AM

The difference in CSX 1000/4000 and CSX 3000 being "real" versus "original".
Both real, only one can be original.

Bret.

REAL 1 01-25-2005 12:31 PM

Agreed

Re: Value

Stev,

If you look at Brooklands Motor Company's website, they have photos of them hammering out the body on CSX1000. Also, their sheetmetal work looks identical to all the sheetmetal in the AC cars I saw. Maybe Brooklands is AC's "factory"???

BROOKLANDSSPEED 01-25-2005 01:50 PM

Guys , we are supporting the marque , we are not AC cars , we are from another planet, where cars get bashed and sheets of aluminum get nervous ........if it works race it ...........if its broke wax it .............. if its a cobra its real ............... great forums , better than watching jerry springer see ya

REAL 1 01-25-2005 02:02 PM

So.....Brooklands Restoration and Repair Centre is making the AC's for AC who is shipping to Shelby.

Ah.....Now it becomes clear.

Brooklands does beautiful work but they are not AC.

Brooklands builds 'em, AC badges them and ships to Shelby who re-badges them as Shelby/ACs and sells 'em.

OK.

If arruminum is you flavor you must ask whether you want a Brooklands sourced Shelby from England or a Kirkham sourced Shelby from the Kirkhams Mig factory in Poland.

Plot thickens.

P.S. You can always opt for the HST sourced Shelby from Mexico. Are guys still putting deposits on these? :JEKYLHYDE

the story gets "Evan" more interesting...

Nice work, great historical names, but neither is a real, original Cobra. OK, I said it and I'm glad.

REAL 1 01-25-2005 02:16 PM

Macro3121: True. But with the future uncertain as to Shelby and SAI the new breeds may one day have their own significance especially post CS and/or SAI. Hmmm. Ponder that.

The originals will always be..well.. the originals.

;)

daltondavid 01-25-2005 02:22 PM

The "Continuation" Cobra series already has it's own significance and interesting Differences. Sadly, it will require the Death of a Business and or Creator before they realy appreciate!
