I've gotten a few negative responses, stuff along the lines of:

"Nice go-kart"
"Nice kit" (in a deragatory tone)
"You're fakin' buddy, you're fakin!"

Not quite sure what that last one meant, but my response was "Yeah, I'd much rather be driving that fine Z-24 Cavalier.", which is what he was behind the wheel of.

He's never get his fat ass in a Cobra!

I was driving through Memorial Park in Houston and a green weenie guy on a bicycle traded Hawaiian peace signs with me, and yelled "Gas Hog", but I think it was 'cause his woman riding beside him was checking out the car (and me too, I'd like to think) a little too obviously...
Otherwise, I don't recall a single negative response.

I got the only real negative feedback from a mechanic...I was there to pick the car up and not sure he knew it was mine. He overheard another guy and I talking about it and he said some trashy things about it and what HE would have done to it engine and suspension wise... his boss REAMED him out in front of me for it... fun to watch. From what I hear, that mechanic is not there anymore, attitude was given as a reason.

Only other time I remember anything sort of negative was a woman walked in after me at a Blockbuster.. had seen me in the car and walked up to me and asked if it was REAL (oh here we go again) or a kit. I was about to tell her about my car when she said, 'cause if its a kit, I will have to kick your ass...'??? HA.. now I am into the rough and nasty stuff like any other red blooded american hetrosexual (right? huh, am I right?), but I said nothing.. just laughed and walked away... on the way out the door she asked me if I restored it myself...I said 'YEP...' and kept walkin...

PS - I find the biggest fans of these cars when out driving have been harley riders. They come up beside me, thumbs up, and some ask for a shot of the nasty noise...

James

My response would have been... "well so is your wife, but I don't see you complaining".

I have never had anything negative said to me by someone who did not have their own Cobra. Even the cyclists that I pass 1 of the group will almost always give the thumbs up. At least I think it is a thumb they are waving! :LOL:

Now, other Cobra owners, that is a different story. I have been surprised by comments from other owners. Most have been from SB owners dailing up their pride by telling me what a waste BB are to have. I could care less about SB or BB. It is the fun of driving and the VAST number of great people you do get to talk to.

There is one guy in particular that keeps telling me about how his corvette green car is better looking then my red car. Bastard. :LOL:

I believe I saw this about a Corvette on one of the Corvette forums where some owner was having all kinds of problems with his new Corvette a year or so ago. If not, then apologies to whomever did post it and I can't remember.
C = Cracks
O = Often
R = Rattles
V = Violently
E = Eventually
T = Turns
T = To
E = Excretement

If some self-righteous greenie gives you $#it just tell them you're buying carbon offsets from Al Gore to make up for it.

I got a few snide looks and a comment from one of the Prius commies that I see several times a week on the way home from work. I just make it a point to pass them at about 6K RPM and rattle thier fillings.

I was up at Lake Tahoe scoping out the area where the Snakes at the Lake gathering was going to be last summer. Stopped at one of the watering holes, had some dinner etc., when I left I saw a young couple hanging around the car. We bantered about the usual questions when I noticed someone had spit on the car, I confronted him on it. He quickly disclaimed anything to do with it and offered to clean it up. His girl friend said he did it and was sorry. I felt like pinching his neck off but let it go when he apologized and couldn't come up with a reason why he did it. He begged that I not kill him. I let it go, as he pulled a rag out of his Toyota. I grabbed him told him not to touch the car. He offered to pay to have it cleaned. I pulled out the detailing kit in the back and cleaned it up.

WTF!!! :eek: You are a better man then me. I would've found out if could fit in his trunk, or at least asked his girlfriend to have a real ride home.

We had this discussion a few years back, and I remember somebody on here posted one of the funniest interactions I had ever read. I can't remember exactly how it went, but it was something to the effect of:

He pulled up to an intersection in his Cobra, and a guy on a bicycle rolled up next to him, looked over the car, and then said "Man, your d*ck must be really small." The guy in the Cobra paused for a moment, looked at the bicyclist and responded, "Yeah, but my balls are HUGE!".

I don't remember who posted this, but I laughed for an hour as I wished I was that quick-witted.

Dude! I can't believe someone actually spit on your car! WTF!?!?

I've had mine for about a month. They only weird reaction I got was from some dude in a new F-150 that had a problem with how my car was louder than his truck (at least that's what I surmised). He basically tried to run people down in order to catch up with me and prove that he was louder and that he could beat me (both being impossible). He couldn't stand my car and did everything he could to have people look at his truck, over-revving (which sounded like crap), cutting in front of people, just being as a$$. The people around us were just shaking their heads wondering what the hell was wrong with that dude.

Everyone else has been real cool. Lots of thumbs up, lots of compliments. Lots of fun.

Is this a universal truth across the country? I assume everone gets this with an exotic car.

Has anyone had vandal problems?

I never saw a negative reaction concerning my Cobra.

If those damn Prius cars weren't so ugly, I would love to get one and put a blown small-block in it and really mess with the greenies!!

Only one negative comment...

Drove the beast to work...making tons of noise as I went down the four lane street to my office. It was a bit crowded, so cars all around me. Pulled into the driveway and parked in my office garage out back and came in the back door.

I could hear voices at the front...some old lady's voice telling my receptionist to tell me to slow down and stop making so much damn noise.

As I went up front I could recognize the voice as she was stating how damn embarrassed she was about all the noise I made.

She was explaining how she had come into town to do some shopping, heard the racket I made and made a u-turn just to let me know how she felt.

It was my Mom.

In 2004 I had a FFR and was stopped at a red light in the 'crunchy' part of the city. Some guy and (I'm guessing his wife) rode up beside me on their bikes and he said (about 3 times) what a 'nice' looking fake my car was. As the light turned green I slowly looked over and said, "do mean fake like your wife's ti*s?"

Latter that same year a guy in a Miata pulled up at a red light and asked if "all that noise was neccessary?" I aksed, "when is Barbie expecting her car back at the playhouse?"

Guess 2004 was the year of stupid car comments in chicago as I haven't had a problem since.
