Better check with Ford Licensing. I do believe that is their COPYWRITE design.

Three Peaks 05-16-2007 08:00 PM

How about some details? I really like the look of these concept cars, but I'm quite sure the price of an original be out of my price range by astronomical amounts.....

Bob

ddcobra 05-16-2007 08:09 PM

Mr Bruce, maybe am wrong i think to avoid the copywright the body need to be 15% (dimension, light, etc)different to the original.
Thanks,
Don.

Bob

I can make a phone call to make sure of the price of the turnkey, put last time we talk together the price was $68995.00

mr bruce 05-16-2007 08:17 PM

I always thought it was 10%, but, maybe they have a lawyer on staff trying to hold onto his job, they could tie you up in court for a few hundred years. better to contact them and pay their 7%. I heard that's what Dynacorn pays for the rites to make the 67 Mustang body shells

ddcobra 05-21-2007 04:42 PM

I talk to my friend and it will be possible to have 6 turnkey minus car for under 45000$:eek:for the next 12 months .If you guys are looking for one of a kind cobra.
We have alredy sold one.
Thanks,:) :) :)
more info: send me a pm.
Don.

Ford ought to either stop them or make them produce a better product. I have been doing Mustang work since 1969 and I examined their body and listened to their promotional talk and then came home and examined a real one ('67 GT500) and none of what they claim is evident in a direct comparison. Heavier metal, extra supports,stronger...BS... pure and simple.
Anyone that replaces their tired ol' '67 body with one of theirs will be sorely disappointed...and Ford licensed them?? I guess the color of money is hard to resist when you are going deeper into debt daily.

I think the standard that has been applied recently in trade dress infringement
actions had nothing to do with actual dimensions, rather what a lay person
preceives the car to be. The case that comes to mind was a re-body kit
for the Mazda Miata that made the car look like a 1st generation Mustang convertible. The standard being that a lay person would immediately identify
the car as a Mustang despite the fact that the Mazda re-body "Mustang" was
a 3/4 size Mustang replica. Ford sought trade dress infringement against the
sellers of the Mazda re-body, but before the case went to court, Ford and the re-body sellers reached an agreement where Ford licensed the re-body.
Ferrari was successful in shutting down several operations that sold 250 GTO
and Testarossa replicas that differed significantly from the originals in terms
of dimensions but retained the "look" of the originals. Chrysler did the same
thing against several sellers of Viper re-bodies that went on C4 Corvettes,
the re-bodies again were dimensionally different from original Vipers, but they
were able to make convincing arguments that the "looK" did indeed constitute
an infringement.

Dynacorn's Mustang and Camaro shells are licensed by their respective parent
companies. It was a long drawn out process to get both GM and Ford to grant
licenses for these reproductions because of product liability concerns. Both
companies feared that tort actions arising out the use of these shells may have
gone against them rather than Dynacorn. I think GM and Ford only granted
licenses after Dynacorn agreed to indemnify both companies from any liability
concerns based on the use of their reproduction shells.

It will be a very nice piece of art, all the body parts for the mould are cnc done.
Don.

LURK 05-24-2007 07:25 PM

You know that really looks like a picture of *the* Shelby concept car - correct me if I'm wrong...

Do you have a picture of the cnc car your un-named friend is building?

Steve Cassani 05-24-2007 07:28 PM

Is the red coupe a Saab Sonnet or a Marcos GT? I can't keep the minor league players straight in my mind anymore...

gman 05-25-2007 09:23 AM

Check the thread from a while back when Buzz modified the concept car. Way nicer and you probably wont have copy issues. Except with Buzz:eek:
Gman

Mark IV 05-25-2007 10:27 AM

Saab Sonett MK I......

And yes, the picture is a copyrighted Ford image. I am amused when I see people advertising "component cars" using pictures of the vehicle they are replicating. I Sorta like the 17 year old kid that took deposits on McLaren replicas using real McLaren photos........................the scarey part is people sent him deposit money!

Perhaps if enough people send deposits for this "car" he will look into tooling it and perhaps building some before he goes bankrupt or just "disappears".
(Gee, sorta like a certain person that now owns "AC"........how many of the CT. built cars have you seen and where is the new Smart based AC Ace?) Hmmmmnn.....
