3/4" DD Shaft
What is the recomended minimum shaft size for manual steering? Does 3/4" DD make it? I'm thinking 3/4" splined?

3/4" shaft has been the industry standard for US applications since the 1970's. If the rest of the system such as U-joint angles, connections, bearing supports, etc. are properly designed, this shaft size is more than sufficient for a manual steer vehicle in the weight range of a Cobra.

3/4 DD is perfect for the shaft, you will only need a 3/4 DD to splined u-joint for the connection to the steering rack. There is a different sized spline depending on a power or manual rack.

Thanks Guys,
Just read on Flaming Rivers site 15 degree max angles work best. I also started thinking the rack input shaft is only 9/16".
Power steering has also been standard since when?

Borgeson, Flaming River and all use 3/4 as their standard. They are also available in aircraft aluminum 3/4. I like steering to be steel personally. Make sure you put a groove or indent with any u-joints to stop them pulling apart. There was a guy on here a couple of months back that suffered from DD (dangerous disassembling) problems.
