Default Angry Reactions

Most people react with enthusiasm to my Cobra. The horn honk or the thumbs up or whatever. But then there is the angry people who hate you for having a Cobra. About 1 in 20-50 reactions is this way.

Is this a universal truth across the country? I assume everone gets this with an exotic car.

Has anyone had vandal problems?

No vandal problems, but I was driving near Beverly Hills one sunny afternoon, and was waiting to cross the intersection at a light. Slowly crossing in front of me was a younger-looking, older-acting woman who said to me "Your car is FAR too loud!"

I get FAR more "thumbs-up" and waves, than the occasional once-in-5-year complaint.

To which you should have responded- "WHAT?? Can't hear you . . . Car's too loud!"

This is absolutely true. It helps not to look at them, just let a smile start to creep across your face at the light, they'll blow a fuse. It's amazing how others think they know what you should be driving and what you should spend your money on

I only get complaints from the "greenie, artsy-fartsy types " that live around here, driving their Smart cars and Prius's or riding their bikes (and not obeying the traffic laws)but other than those it is usually thumbs up most of the time.

I agree G.R.. There are just a few tree huggers up in these parts. That said, it is a rarity to get any grief.

Only one time and that was from one of the tree huggers who started off about people like me in these old cars ruining the atmosphere. He left quickly when one of the huge Harley riders walked over and wanted to know if he had rather they ruin it with his body. All others from all walks of life has been thumbs up and grins. I have never had any type negative action or remark from the motorcycle gangs around here. They would ride alongside me on the highway and give the thumbs up or stop when I did and talk to me about the car and what a great ride they are.

I've only had one negative response and that was when the guy found out that my FIA had a 1965 engine in it. Made some comment about wasting fuel and spewing "all that pollution into the air." Everybodyelse has been extremely positive. Wish I had this car when I was single (good thing my wife doesn't read this forum!).

In 12K miles, I've only had ONE complaint and I deserved it. Homeowner yelled at me to slow down, and I do believe I was exceeding the posted 25 MPH speed limit when I pulled 2nd gear at 6K RPM.

If you want to be polite, you don't quite pull up side-by-side to a car with the windows down. If it's a person you definitely want to annoy, then pull up slightly ahead of them and if the sound doesn't kill them, the fumes might.

Nah, everybody loves it, although vandalism wouldn't surprise me; not because of the car itself but because of what it represents. Some peoples' lives are so freakin' miserable they can't stand to see anyone have something nice, so they feel they have to spread their misery around.

I'd love an opportunity to leave a deaf, trembling, Communist-sympathizing, Volvo-driving, gun-fearing, choking, coughing Greenie in my dust!

Couldn't find a better and "funner" way of driving the PC, tree-hugging crowd nuts. Wonder how Al Gore would react to a ride in my very loud, gas-guzzling FE 427-powered Cobra?

Al Gore is too busy flying across the world BY HIMSELF IN A PRIVATE JET telling the rest of us that we must cut back on our energy use.

That G'Damn jackass wastes more fuel in one of those junkets that I will ever use in a life time of weekend Cobra driving.

Thanks for letting me vent.

I was cuising down the freeway and a guy in an Escalade rolled down his window and gave me the middle finger as he drove by me. Was negative but made me feel good

I love trees and hug some small ones, but I also love Cobras and mine loves to set car alarms off. Not last fathers day but in 2005 I had driven into Tacoma Wa to spend Fathers day with my son . I stop at Safeway, park on the other side of the lot away from ever one, just there 15mins to pick up some steaks for the get together. As I got back to the Cobra there was shopping cart in the front end of the Cobra the headlight was broken and some paint chips in front. A guy standing by said that this guy had run the cart into the front end and drove off. He had part of the linc.#
I think I was glad I wasnt there or I would have kill the guy I was so dam mad. I think there most be some people out there who think that all of us have not work hard to have these cars

WTF?! Good thing you didn't see that happen and the guy that did it. That would have been a felony assault charge for me.

I think that kind of stuff happens to most nice cars out of pure envy. I've had a Mustang keyed and my C4 Vette used as a door bumper for cheap cars that just had to park next to me. People who can't afford the cars or can but just want to let you know they don't agree with your choice will always do stupid things. I was so worried about my last Cobra, I never let it out of my site. That kind of took some of the fun out of it from time to time. If I ever caught someone intentionaly damaging one of my cars, they would have a very hard time eating corn on the cob when I got done with them.
