Default Suspension Modeling Program

There are several suspension modeling programs available.

It would seem that with all the folks racing these cars over the last 40 years, someone would have thought to enter the pivot point data into one of these programs to allow "what if" design changes.

A quick search found a few programs that grab front AND rear data and crunch this together.

KMP 259 had quite a bit of data on bumpsteer front and rear, but I was unable to determine if his pivot points were the same as stock (trailing arm differed). It seemed to indicate that the starting point was "stock", likely only the CNC master knows for sure!

Byots,

Bump steer is a fascinating topic. In practice it can make a great deal of difference in a car's handling. If there's enough, it can make a car totally unsafe to drive

It takes, however, more accurate gear than a yardstick/tape measure to measure bump steer. I'd suggest if you are serious enough to invest some time (and maybe some Excedrin) in this area that you start here:

Not coincidentally they make some fairly inexpensive tools to measure yours (and all your friends' ) with.

Hope this helps,

Tom

Great article. If you have bump steer present and run over a bump, will the steering wheel move as the car steers itself? Also, couldn't you test your cars bump steer by rolling over a speed bump with one side of the car at various speeds?
