'static' meatballs & stripes
I want to put the static 'meatballs' and stripes on my car. Does anyone have experience with these? Do they stay on at speed? I called suppiers but it seems like they would not come out and say that they won't blow off when I asked them the direct questions. Well, do they or don't they? Thanks in advance.

If you spray a little mist of water on before you apply them and then squeegee them well, they stay on. I put mine on and take them off afterwards, so I can't say how well they "stick" over a long period of time, but for a few days they stay on fine.
Maybe other folks here can advise you regarding long term use. |
Static Stripes
I'm using a set of "pit stripes" on my car. As long as you follow the directions and cure in sun or garage as proscribed they seem to stay on at above legal speeds. I did clean the paint with rubbing alcohol first.

Yes mine have also been on for well over a year.
I sprayed the panel down positioned the decals/stickers and the wiped excess off. It is best to do that the day before to allow to dry/set. I then wipe them over again to remove any trapped air under the decal/sticker. Take care when washing as the soapy water can lift an edge. Again just chamois off and ensure edges are down. Speed - well I have had the Cobra well over 160kph/100+mph without and problem. This makes me wonder another question. My SPF car has the meatballs painted on from the factory. How many of you have them painted on also? I wasn't too sure about them when I first got the car. But, the more Cobra's I see I'm finding it's a bit more unique (for lack of better wording) to have them painted. Most SPF's seem to just have stripes.

No problem. The wheels are manufactured locally here. They are not pin drive though..%/ I have spinners that are missing in the following photo. I wire them back to the wheels when on. %/ This is an older photo taken when Aussie Mike - Mike Murphy - put the new side pipes on at his house, just after he made for me. I have the decal/sticker gumballs on the doors with the decals/stickers on the guards/fenders. The front and rear gumballs are painted on as are the yellow Team/Rookie stripes. http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/d...obra_2_027.JPG |
Those fender stripes are team stripes not rookie stripes. Rookie stripes go on the rear to warn overtaking drivers.
I use a base of windex. Never lost one yet. Check out http://squierdesign.com/ for the rondelles (meatballs). Roscoe |
At the DVSF a couple years ago, a few guys had them blown off in a very hard rainstorm coming down the highway...
I'm sure that I am being paraniod, but I don't usually leave mine on for more than a week or two - have always been concerned that sunlight would fade the paint except where the decals are, leaving dark spots when removed - would probably take years, but... Dan |

I was commissioned to do the sponsor sticker art for a '63 Don Yenko Z06 Corvette. I sent the art to Squire Design. They didn't return my calls for a couple of months, but they got the stickers to me and they look good. The Price was also very reasonable.
