Slabside interest?

Just curious, how many would be interested in a 289 slabside kit if a mfg
would step up and offer one? Not talking Kirkham, JCF or Hawk, although
all those have their pluses and minuses. Used Auroras are also becoming
scarce. I have an interest in a slabside kit, knowing Mr. Bruce has a body
available but I think there would be an interest in a complete kit, if available
and reasonably priced. What say you?

I had one of my bodys mounted on a Contemporary frame, no interest. Same as the one I put on an F5 frame. (that's about as inexpensive as you can get).Everybody wanted to see a finished ,shiney car . I just have too much other work to finish a car on pure speculation, hopeing some one would bite. SHOW ME SOME MONEY and it will be done. thanks.

Well, that settles that. I thought there would be some interest as this has
been a topic before. Should have known it had been researched before. Oh
well, on to somethin' else, I guess.

I to am a slabside fan.
Especially the Slabside comp car patterning CSX2487, CSX2476, or CSX2291 which is only done in very limited #'s by SAI (glass) and KMS (metal). If the body could take those early car rarities like rocker panel belly, rear lower valence belly, and use a street 289 dash it could be a winner.

Mr Bruce, I sent you a PM proposition about this one……

A car with the right body curves, IRS, 3”or even 4” round tubular frame set up like an early 289 however using coilover IFS for cost and ease, pin drive FIA’s, 289/302 with plain old air cleaner and basic appointments (basic to make it reliable), tubular steel seats, bare aluminum cockpit, with the right detail could surely spark interest. It would be a stand alone in the market of S/C’s and a few FIA’s offerings.

If I could I would build one today except the wife would have a few objections. Thus I would have to live in it! I can’t be alone here, easier to see/buy a finished car running versus a partial car if I plan to stay married. At least at this stage in life, youngsters…

With the right economics this could be a winner w/o issue I am sure. Pull up to a car show where the S/C is multiple and the Aurora scarce (yet inaccurate) in a comp style slab 289 car and who would draw the crowd. I remember an Aurora at LimeRock which had the interior change over to look like a CSX slabside, it really was a conversation piece since those in the know were wondering if it was a real CSX. Like any business venture you have to set yourself apart and that is why I guess it is already being initiated by the best in the business SAI and KMS.
Anyone need a kidney cause I need a KMS comp 289!

We're sort of at the"chicken before the egg "syndrome on this project. Build the car with my money/time, or show the MONEY and build the car. If I could only find an investor??????

You have certainly stepped up on numerous occasions for requests
by quite a few people, and I understand your delemma. Its easy for
us to make a request, and am sure you have been "stuck a few times
by promises, promises". I do understand "show me the money". I'm
surprised that there was no more initial support for a slabside kit.
I guess it would have to meet a specific criteria, and certain original
specs. I'm not interested in total accuracy, just body shape accuracy
of the slabside original. I like the w/w, undercar duals, and simplicity
of the 260/289 street cars. Thanks for your replies. I'm originally from
the 'Burg area' near New Kensington, Vandergrift area.

Nice to see the Aurora getting alittle recognition. I am very much the slabside fan and own Aurora #27 and have made numerous changes to the car to make it more CSX like. Every time I pull into a local show or meet the Aurora slabside grabs alot of the attention away from the SC replica's with most going "wow,look!a real AC!".

I've had more then a few guys argue with me that it's not a replica.

The body IS an exact replica of the second CSX 260 car and was pulled from that body with the side vents added and with all the added 80's DOT stuff removed (5 m.p.h. bumpers and sidemarkers) is really quite a nice machine to look at.

I went the Aurora route because...there really weren't any affordable slabsides offered and the Aurora has the looks of the slabside but with a coil over independent set up and is a blast to drive.

I've been waiting for the day that someone offers a well sorted out,well built for the US market slabside for something less then the cost of a small home.

Enough from me...I could ramble on and on about this subject.
