So you don't wanna buy a fire system?
|
Did you bring any marshmallows ?
What fire suppresion systems do you guy's have ? extinguisher or under hood ? and what kind, halon or standard ABC ?
Thanks Brent |
I have a Halon extinguisher between the seats on the rear wall. I also installed a halon Safecraft system with three nozzles. http://www.safecraft.com/

I don't think carbon fiber burns but will have one for a gas fire. The Superformance I had used an automatic marine type installed in the engine bay.

I was wondering how I should spend that $400 in Summit gift certificates I got for my birthday. Oh, yeah, a Halon fire suppression system...
Speaking of which: the three nozzle Halon system I suppose I would put one nozzle under the hood, one in the cockpit, and another undercar near the fuel tank? Thanks for the reminder! |
Well posted, Roscoe.

Double Ugly,
Fiberglass does not burn either. (At the temperatures normally seen in a vehicle fire.) It is the binding resins that burn. Fire systems are very important and I recommend that you install the largest system you can fit. It seems there is never enough Halon to put out the fire. |
Of course in this case it's a VW cleverly disquised as a bathtub... :D
|
I have one nozzle in the engine compartment and one in each footbox (per Safecrafts suggestion.) The ones in the footbox blow down toward your feet so you get the blast bouncing off the floor and back at you.
Basically the fire system allows you to get out of the car uninjured. If the fire goes out that's a plus. Get good insurance too. Roscoe |
5 lbs or 10 lbs system in your car?
|
I've got this 5lb system. Comes with two nozzles and I ordered and extra one.
I didn't use their tubing. I used teflon lined braided stainless. http://www.safecraft.com/product_pag...&menu=&Search= Roscoe |

Ouch!!!!!!!!!!!
|
I have a fire extinguisher mounted between and just behind the seats in my car.
Question for those with full suppression systems: is the intent with the system to protect the driver and passenger long enough for them to exit the car or is the intent to protect the car itself? |
Man! that is one sad picture....Thanks fellas, I needed a kick in the a$$ to do it right.............

This is similar to the unit that was in my SPF. Seems like a relatively cheap way to go.John |
