Qwik Lift Bumpers
While watching the third and final episode of the Cobra build on KIT-An Autobody Experience this morning, it was mentioned that virtually all Cobra recreations only have decorative Qwik Lift Bumpers. Meaning that they provide the look of the originals, but cannot be used.
Given the number of choices available, does anybody know of specific Cobra recreations where the Qwik Lift Bumper is functional and not a decoration?
As always, appreciate membership input.

For what its worth, original quick jacks were just as useless. They'd flex and damage the body as well. The difference was original cars were just throw away race cars, so nobody cared about some wrinkled aluminum back then.

Thanks For the Response
So, it appears that based on replies, virtually no recreations have functional Quick Lift Bumpers; essentially all are cosmetic.
Honestly did not know that...

Here is the back of the quick-jacks on my ERA. They might be good for a couple of hundred pounds, if that. Certainly not the front of the car.
Afterthought -- You could probably use the front ones safely if the engine was not in the car.

They are useless for what they were designed for, but...if you weld a piece of stainless 1" pipe across them, the pipe makes for a splendid platform for an array of driving and fog lamps.

The ones on my Superformance are very functional.
They're wonderful at removing skin from shins and the occassional forehead. Haven't poked my eyes out yet, but close.

I was under the impression that using the quick-jacks on a CSX 4000 car was just fine.
I have jacked up the car several times using them and not had a problem.
Am I just asking for trouble down the road??

Interesting. You know I had heard a rumor that the engineers at SAI redirected the hub/rotor/spindle funding over to the quick-jack account. Maybe that's the answer.

I sure wouldn't be doing that
All they are are spacers and threaded rod (or bolts) attached to thin square tube outriggers.

Some interesting exchanges...would I be off in the weeds if I asked whether any manufacturer provided explicit instructions to buyers warning them not to use the Quick Lift Bumpers for anything other than show? If Cobra 25, as mentioned above, thought the practice was ok, and it's really not, seems to me that the manufacturers might need to mention something about it...

Was told I could use quick jacks because finish line put extra bracing on full competion cars, mine is #7 of 12. I looked and the car does have extra bracing compared to Patrickt picture, but that said I will not put to test, alum. not easy to repair and don't need self made problems.

quick jacks
most jacks are mounted with 3/8" bolts or all thread, some have 1/2". Most jacks are 10 to 12" from there mounting point. I don't think they would hold much weight.

I think the attachment points at the rear of a Hurricane, if braced with a triangle of steel, could hold the weight of the rear, it would depend on what you used for mounting bolts, material for the actual quick jack, and how far out the jack was from the actual mounting point. The front would fail...

Superformance specifically says (in the owners manual) that the lift jacks are cosmetic and should never be used to lift the car.
When I first read this, I though it was a late April fools joke.
Most replicas have a sturdy frame that can be used to jack up a car. Cobra25, you're probably lucky you didn't tear the front of your car off.

These guys are all correct, no quick-jacks are to used to jack up your car, none of them. Common sense should prevail, also, have you ever seen a quick-jack divise for sale through a magazine or any car manufacturer?

I can't believe many owners would use the quick jacks as you'd have to have the jacking device. If anybody has one, please chime in. I bet you are a very small minority of Cobra owners. Those quick jack plates might offer a little protection for the body, but they look like they might bend to the side. There's so many vaiables involved such a speed of contact, angle, etc. to predict what would happen. Overriders, being round in cross section probably add a little more protection to the nose of the car. More protection is available with the bars connected to the overrider mounts. Up to a point, anything bolted to the frame is better than the fiberglass or aluminum contacting an object at low speed. Going back to the guy on Kit Autobody Experience, his totally dummy quick jacks were bolted to the fiberglass body itself. Any big force, like bumping into a wall while parking, would easily crack the fiberglass, maybe even making two holes completely dislodging the quick jack tubes.
