Supersnake advertised to be in Russo and Steele auction
In the July issue of Victory Lane magazine there is an ad for the Russo and Steele Monterey auction (August 16-18) and this ad features the Supersnake. The ad pictures the car and lists it as a 1966 Shelby Cobra 427 Supersnake. Lot #7119. It is not clear to me if this is CSX3015 which is the car sold at Barrett-Jackson to Ron Pratt in January or if it is CSX3303 which is the air car built by Brian Angliss after 3303 was destroyed. The picture of the car looks to be darker paint than 3015 but it is hard to tell since the picture is not too good. Although the car is pictured in this ad it is not listed on the Russo and Steele website at this time. |

I believe that's the 3303 car. It was supposed to be sold the same weekend as 3015 at Russo and Steele, but the auction was pulled due to the car "not being shipped to the US in time".

Check for water damage. Tony Maxey destroyed the car by launching it over a cliff at Half Moon Bay almost forty years ago. What a joke. |

				 New Guy
Anyone have any current 2007 pictures of the Russo and Steele Super Snake Cobra? Any early period documentation on Tony Maxey and the crash cobra I can read somewhere?
 Many Thanks.

No one was ever killed in the Bill Cosby Super Snake cobra to my understanding. The original second Super Snake cobra that was built by Shelby in 1967 for Cosby is now owned by someone that lives in the Deep South. That amazingly knows the real history on the Cosby cobra.
I do not know the name of the owner to share with you guys at this time (sorry). But if I happen to find out anything soon then I will certainly report the information here to this web site.

My interest is in the second Super Snake history (not CSX3015). I do have a 97' Shelby Cobra registry.

 Many thanks.

Wasn't the Brian A. supersnake reconstructed from just the paper title? As the car was completely destroyed. New body, new frame... |

Seems to me the Brian A. car had more than just 'paperwork'. Some bits and pieces and perhaps the original engine, or so the story goes. How many 'bits and peices' it takes to add some significant history depends on the buyer and the price. Just the fact that it was built by Brian A. does give it some 'history' in and of itself.
"Real" history is hard to come by, rumors and speculation run rampant.

The only thing that anyone who buys 3303 is getting, is a legit original VIN number, and a lot of campfire stories. Regardless of which story to choose to believe, it's still not the same car that was with us in the late 60s.
