who's going to run and gun 2007?

I'm curious who's all going to st louis this year. Lew Payne, George Anderson, Rick Lake, Rich Pickles, Bob Self ? Any of you guys going to play race car driver for a few days? I haven't committed yet but definately considering it if all the gang's going to be there. Dean Lampe, Jay Nordstrom ? Just wondering before I make the plunge.

dlampe 08-03-2007 04:26 PM

Come on over! It is going to be a blast. Last year i drove over 330 miles on the road course. I have never had that kind of track time at any event.

r scott richey 08-03-2007 05:23 PM

Hi Dean, I don't know if you remember me or not. I've got the white contemporary 289 fia with green and black stripes. I haven't been to run and gun for a couple of years but I think I'm going to make this one. What are you bringing to it ? I heard a vicious rumor you sold a 289 fia kirkham and might be building a gt 40. Is the 40 going to be done in time? I hope you can bring it. Hopefully see ya there.

dlampe 08-03-2007 08:09 PM

Scott, I sure do remember you. It will be good to see you again. The rumor you heard is accurate. I sold my kirkham and I am finishing an RCR Gt 40. Nothing special, ;) but I am planning on a couple of pretty fast laps!

SPF1061 08-03-2007 08:20 PM

I've sent my paperwork and money in. Can't hardly wait. I went last year and had a terrific time. Clois, Jay, Deane, and all the folks who put this event on are absolutely first class.

Spectators?

Do the Cobra kit manufacturers show up for Run n Gun? I am not am owner yet but I am thinking of making the trip from California to watch, listen, and learn. And hopefully sit a few Cobras to see if I fit (6'6")

Are spectators allowed at the event, or is it driver only?

Sounds like a fun way to spend a couple days, even without a car:LOL:

r scott richey 08-04-2007 09:16 AM

There are some manufacturers at the event. At least there was the last time I went. Not booths or anything set up like that but people that are associated with the manufacturer or actually own the companies and are out playing with their products .the truth is you'll find out about the different makes by the drivers (owners) of the different makes and what they like or don't like about particular car. It's well worth your trip if you're even thinking about one. You can learn more in 2 days than 2 years of research on your own. And spectators have always been welcome in the past and unless it's changed, I think all you have to do is sign a waiver saying they aren't responsible for you getting hurt on the track.

BT SNAKE 08-04-2007 10:47 AM

Hey Tallguy,
Scott is right on about this. I said basically the samething on another thread. That's how I bought mine. Over the past four R&G's I have given
a minimum of 20 rides to people that were there looking and considering a replica.
I'm not positive but I think RCR, Shell Vally, Midstates, and many other manufacturers
will be there. They always bring a variety of replicas and they all play on the track. This is not to mention many other owners with a variety of replicas also.

Hersh:)

Tallguy 08-04-2007 11:27 AM

Thanks r scott and Hersh for the replies. If I can free up the days, I'll be there. My wife's b-day falls during the event, and I can't seem to convince here that this would be a great birthday getaway gift... With or without er

Yea I'm coming

r scott richey Yea I'm coming. This is the 20 year event. I would hope that alot more of the gang is coming. Gary Perioa, Smith Brothers, Jeff Swartz, The corvette gang from the now gone D&D club. Bob Self, Stacy P. Wayne turpin, MR PICKLES, and the list goes on. Need to pull heads on motor and repair ripped out helicoils. New clutch is needed also. Centerforce is in the garbage. Looking for a little more warmer weather this year. I got tired of hugging my side pipes for warmth.  Another 3 weeks before I can pull motor. :( Rick L.

No Grass Cutting Dean For Low Lap Times!!!!!

dlampe No Cheating Dean:rolleyes: Momming the grass is not fair for low time. If you are bring the GT I know you will stay off the grass;) Hope Morris and Steve come this year with the Silver Bullet. What a car. I am hoping that some of the old Guard will come out. I hear the Dragons are coming with John Chestnut. I miss Beck and the lister boys. Jim Reed and SPF cobra? Was hoping for an old ERA cobra with 58mm webers was coming but new job keeps the owner/driver very busy. We have a group from TEXAS coming, lead by that LADY driving pepe. Watch out for her this year:eek: %/  :D Here her driving is alot better.;) We will see how many .000 lights are cut this year. last year the old guys 2, the young guys shut out. Looking forward to seeing everyone. Lew Payne has his car together and is waiting for R&G. Clois is up to ? His camp is quiet. Maybe a sleeper this year%/ Loking forward to MR. Yale again. Still need new motor with another 100hp for that red coupe. May put 6-spd back in car for race.%/ Rick L.

r scott richey 08-05-2007 09:33 AM

Hi Rick, Thanks for responding. It sounds like you've news on who's all coming. I haven't been in a while and really looking foward to the event. The only thing I've changed on my 289 is I've converted it to a carb setup rather than the fuel injection. The main reason for that is to ease maintenance. I can grasp the concept of a carbs mechanicals better than I can a computerized fuel management system. Look foward to seeing you.

Scott

Hi mate,

Well I had hoped to make te Run N Gun this year - and be your pit crew again!!

A few things have gone down here that will keep me in Australia.

Will PM you.

Bernie

r scott richey 08-05-2007 03:53 PM

Hi Bernie, I'm sorry to hear that. I just talked to Wayne the other day and told him I thought you were coming. The pit crew won't be the same. I was hoping you could come to Evansville before the event to see my newest addition. I finally got the 2007 gt 500 and it's one hell of a car. It's definately everything they say it is. Well, if you get in the locale any other time or there's a change in plans (for the better) to come anyway, let us know.

Clois Harlan 08-06-2007 08:16 AM

I talked to Hersch the other day and I too am sorry you wont' be making the trip but I understand and you are doing the right thing Bernie. You will be needed more in Australia.

Scott and Tall Guy,

To further answer your question about who is coming and what mfg are planning on showing up. Either Dean Lampe or I have spoken to Mongoose, Superformance, Backdraft, Shell Valley, B&B, and Hurricane to name a few and we are waiting to hear from a couple others. However, there will be cars from virtually all Cobra, Dragon, Cheetah and Lotus 7 manufacturers as well as the new Corvette Gran Sport and the GT-40 manufacturers.

Additionally we have commitments from Everette Morrison and Lone Star owners (streetch version). I can assure you that Factory Five, Kirkham, Superformance, B&B, Shell Valley, Mid-States, Johnnex, CMC, RCR, Roaring 40's, Viking, and others I haven't mentioned will have be well represented. Most owners are glad to talk about their cars are usually willing to give you a ride if you are considering a purchase.
