IMHO,
The hydraulic throw out bearing is right next to Osama Bin Laden on my list of my most favorite things in life. We have changed 5 of them out this year already. I am pretty sure we installed them correctly. I am very sure the swollen o-rings (ALMOST TWICE THEIR NORMAL SIZE) was not correct. Yes, we even used the "recommended" brake fluid. Someone put the wrong formula rubber in the o-rings. We called and they "fixed" that problem...yes, and I pulled another 4 OUT after the fix!!!
They are an abomination and I wouldn't defile the ocean by giving them the "deep 6" test.
There, now you know how I feel. I think Jamo's opinion of them is only slightly worse than mine.
David

David, I wish you and Jamo would not sugar-coat it. Tell us how you REALLY feel.

I could have gotten more descriptive
You should have heard Jamo when I told him we had developed a NEW hydraulic throw out bearing that I guaranteed would not leak. Jamo told me to put it in unmentionable places that look too much like his avatar...
I repented and developed an external system! Haven't had to pull one out since.

But David you love them in 2005.
Done with McLeod
I like mine because it is working fine. I do agree that if there is a problem with it, pulling the tranny aint fun and if you don't get it right to have to pull it right out again scores very high on the sucko meter.
When I build another car it will have a slave.

Naumoff,
I was a fool; I was an idiot; I was wrong, I was...what else do you want me to say? It is probably right! Just call me John Kerry.
The units usually blew up about 1 year into ownership...which leads me to my feelings of today! They worked great in the beginning when you first put them in. Anyway, I repent of my error of the past.
Jamo,
I still like your's.

David,
I know when we are young we are dumb. I just turned 40 this year and as I have stated that the next one will have a slave. When the time comes I know I will not want to pull the trans when my seals blow. 10,000 miles on my HTOB and it is two years old and it has been good so far.
I can not deny if you have a problem that the slave is much easier to work on.

John Kerry would have never admitted he was wrong (only real men do that). He would have said "well I actually hated the HTOB before I liked it, but I only liked it because I was misslead by the Bush admin with manipulated intel, so now that I hate it, my position has not actually changed, and so, I have been perfectly consistent on this issue."

Actually it was Jamo who was manipulating the INTEL. HE was Deep Throat giving me the covert INTEL all along! HEY, come to think of it (now that I can see I can actually conjure a way to deflect blame for this) it was actually HIS idea all along! He is the leak; err, HE made them leak! He has spies in the rubber factories just like he does in the strawberry fields. It is not my fault, regardless of what someone else has already quoted me as saying. That wasn't me writing it! This is the work of a vast moderator conspiracy! MA MA!
olddog, THAT was funny!

I've had my car on the road for about a year. I just noticed that the clutch is a little soft, and checked the reservoir...half low. Humm....wonder if its the hydraulic TO?...made by.... Mcleod.
Dang, I hate having to take out the seats!!

oh dear, dont tell anyone though, you might be accused of being a whiner; let them find out for themselves LOL on a serious note Im sorry to hear yours has gone belly up as; sometimes its just the banjo seals, so if you are resealing, get those seals as well. If the banjos are leaking it doesnt get on the clutch cover plate/friction plate unless youre very unlucky, unlike the main seals springing a leak, in which case it can soon get to the clutch. If you can work out an external solution it will be better in the long run, but I'd check for fluid in the bell housing drain hole 1st before you decide mr leaky is the culprit.
