Brent I just got my first email notification, thanks.

Ron61 09-20-2007 03:17 AM

Brent,

Still not a single e-mail notification and this is what I am getting when I log onto the home page this morning.

I can go to the Forums and everything is ok. I know that you are working on it, but does the fact mine worked good the first day back and then just quit help any?

Ron

The errors you posted were a glitch fetching the thumbnails for the Classified strip on the home page.

As far as mail is concerned, my tests are all good...post notifications are being sent.

If you are not receiving ANY site mail...check if you have a trap or a spam filter that is blocking it.... also advise your ISP and ask them to test for you.

..also, try clearing out all your thread subscriptions and starting over with one or two as a test.

Ron61 09-20-2007 06:01 AM

Ron,

I just started receiving them again with the posts that you and Warren made. I have already checked my traps and spam filters and they were not the problem. The ISP told me they weren't receiving anything yesterday as I told them it worked the first day and then just quit. I never received any last night, but suddenly now they seem to be working.

EDIT: I just tried sending myself a PM and an E-Mail and I received notifications for both of them, so whatever it was that was blocking mine seems to have cleared up for now at least. I hope that it stays working as I hate trying to work with my ISP. They insist on only working with the site administrators, but one of them knew me and he did check for me yesterday.

Thanks for checking,

Ron :)

I just got my e-mail notification about your e-mail notification regarding the fixing of the previously non-functional e-mail notifications.

Brent Mills 09-20-2007 11:12 AM

Yay...Progress!!! I made some changes to the mail server. I knew it had something to do with the relay, as I was receiving them all along, but I pull from a mail box on the server. Should be ok from here on out.

Ron61 09-20-2007 11:33 AM

:)

Thanks Brent,

I have been receiving mine all morning now. And I can also send and receive PMs and e-mails through the club.

Ron :)

Don 09-20-2007 04:24 PM

Brent, I did not receive the e-mail notification, reference postings #352 on the following Thread:

patrickt 09-23-2007 03:34 PM

I don't seem to be getting email notification properly either.

Brent Mills 09-25-2007 01:00 AM

Patrick, I just looked at server logs and its indicating that the mail from the server is being blocked as spam. You are using mindspring. Don, what email company are you using?

Brent Mills 09-25-2007 01:04 AM

Don, looks like you're earthlink too, and I just looked at the logs and earthlink/mindspring is blocking all mail from club cobra.

Please contact them to get this server off of whatever black list they have the server on. :(

patrickt 09-25-2007 05:35 AM

Mindspring/Earthlink

This happened to me once before with Mindspring/Earthlink and it took a few emails to one of their bots, but eventually they did free up the domain that had been locked out. Perhaps if both Don and I both try they'll free it up a bit quicker. Thanks for checking the logs and getting to the bottom of the problem!

Don 09-25-2007 09:27 AM

Brent, yes, I am with Earthlink and will contact them. Prior to the last outage, I was receiving the e-mail alerts on a consistent basis.

Anticipating the challenges when I contact Earthlink tech support, would you indicate the specific server designation I should inform them of, would it be , or ?

http://www.clubcobra.com/

Any other technical terms I can use to facilitate Earthlink's action ?

I will also look at my Apple software settings for Safari and Mail, but no recent changes.

............thanks for researching

Ron61 09-25-2007 11:14 AM

Don,

Way back when I was on AOL and we had a crash the same thing happened and the darn AOL techs refused to talk to any of us at all. They said to have them let the notifications through again they had to talk to the site administrator. I never did understand that as they had been coming through with no problem before the crash. But you need to contact the techs that work on their servers, not just the regular techs that tell you your browsers are the problem. Hope they are better to work with than AOL was way back then.

Ron :)

That should be fine...since you will be reporting an improper "blacklisting" of the domain... all they need to know is that they are blocking mail from "@clubcobra.com"

They should be able to take it from there.
