"Skinning" the Footbox

I've been thinking (always a dangerous pasttime

) that I might attempt to take my fiberglass footbox and skin it with aluminum and then use the fiberglass front wheel liners as templates to fabricate aluminum ones.

Has anyone already done something like this and were you satisfied with the results?
