Yes but as you stated they were the supplier of rolling stock the Shelby. I'm OK with that from a historical / lineage point of view.
What I don't get is the crossover into what is clearly a clone or copy of a Shelby being included. Obviously there would never be an allowance for FFRs or ERAs for example, so why are Kirkhams included and other MFG's excluded? Does it become a point of accuracy? Where is the line drawn? Aluminum skin? Licensing agreements? FYI I'm not trying to stir the pot here, just expressing my opinion. :) |
My understanding was that the "C" in CSX & COB was simply the third letter in the alphabet to denote the third series cars. The previous series Ace's chassis numbers started with "A" and then "B".
I don't believe the "C" had anything to do with "Cobra". Paul |

It is the degree of accuracy and, more so, the aluminum body, in addition to the relationship as supplier of same to Shelby Autos. |

You're right it was the third product family to use the sequence...and, as such, was "C" ...but, it was no coincidence that: "A" was for Ace "B" was for Bristol and... "C" was for Cobra |
I will only participate in being a tool for the man, just because. I really do not think the KMP's should be in the regestry. I especially do not think the GT's should be there either. I am even totally against having the true "Poser" Shelby --the CSX cars in their either.
Book should have only original Shelbys! New CSX's are a disgrase to the breed, fiberglass bodies, better cooling, better brakes, bla, bla, bla. Just another Replica with a fifty thousand dollar signature.- Saw one on a FFR at Monteray. Go figure? If you want to be a Shelby owner step up and buy- Don't get the "Carbon Credit Feel Good" model and then hang out with the "Real" guys with your polished 482 KC motored chest hanging out- total "wanibee". I also think the government should not provide healtcare to your kids so you can keep gas in the Suburban! LET US GET BACK TO THE FOUNDATION! |
Correct, nobody said COB or COX was a Shelby, just like no one is saying a Kirkham is a Shelby.
SPF seems to have a bit of problem in that regard... |
Im sure Shelbys given his blessing to adding Kirkham to the registry, and at the end of the day, thats what counts.
|
Re-body?
If I re-body my CSX car with an alum Kirkham, do I get in the registry twice?:JEKYLHYDE

...you become a "story car"

I thought we already read that story.

My COX doesn't care which hand.

Does your COB care which ho......never mind.

My point was that neither COXs or COB ever saw SAI in the US. They were finished by AC and had AC badges. AC's supplied the bodies for the CSXs to SAI and CSXs wore Cobra badges.
Kirkhams that are not Shelbys never see SAI and do not wear Cobra badges from the Kirkham factory. Kirkham like AC also supplies SAI with bodies and chasis ala' AC in the 60 for Shelby Cobras. Thats my point. |
