At the same time, your car never saw the original California Shelby factory floor as it was produced just a "few" years later than an original. My advice is to sell your Shelby and buy a Kirkham. It will still be listed in the Shelby registry (ah the prestige of it all), and you'll have enough spare change left over for that FFR Spec Racer you always wanted. Bill S. |

Allan you got some new information on who is destined to become this 'new supplier' for alloy bodies to Shelby? It seems Amy is weighing her options. :D
|
Thanks Bill: But I'll pass on your "great advice"  Another sour grapes suggestion from the "real racer" crew but thanks, I'm perfecty happy with my Shelby and its appreciation in value over the past 6 years. I have no plans to sell anytime in the near future. Moreover, I don't need to sell the Shelby to pick up a FFR spec racer. Besides right now I'm too busy enjoying the new Ford GT.
As to the SAAC registry and the "prestige of it all" it seems that all the Kirkham owners exicted about the prospect of their car being included in the Registry do think there is a plus to it. When the new registry hits let us know what cars you have registered will ya? Maybe if you save your pennies you can make the next registry in 10 years. |
Evan, I know this might be somewhat shocking to you and your fellow travelers, but Kirkham owners simply are not affected by angst.
Black lung disease from arruminum powder maybe, but not angst. |
Spoke to RK of SAAC this should stir the pot.
ME Dear Sir, please allow me a moment of your time. Recently I have heard >>> that >>> Kirkham Cobras will be allowed in the registry. I would like to voice my >>> opinion against this. I do not approve. They do not belong any more than >>> an >>> ERA or a FF. Thank you for allowing me a moment of your time, Greg HIM Greg: >> >> Obviously I disagree with you but unfortunately I don't have time to >> continue working on this book AND justify my position. Suffice it to say >> that it will be explained in the book. >> >> We take the long view that in the coming years (5, 10, 20 or so) when most >> of the people who now own Cobras are dead and buried there will be a lot >> of >> opportunities for unscrupulous people to fake original cars. By gathering >> data on Cobra-type cars that are very similar to the originals (unlike the >> ERA/.Contemporary/Superformance/FF. , etc) we are insuring that the purity >> of the originals is maintained. To simply ignore these cars will not make >> them go away. This is why we include the AC MK IVs, CSX4000s, CSX7000, >> Ford >> GT MK Vs, Holman MK IIs, etc. It is not because we are so excited about >> these other cars per se, but because we take the responsibility for >> keeping >> the originals unsullied so seriously. Believe me, it would be much less >> work >> to ignore them. But the result would be that some day nobody would be sure >> which cars were genuine and which were not or how to tell the difference. >> >> Rick ME Rick thank you for your quick reply and the explanation. I now understand, > and see why they would be included. I think I became a little irked because > of the way I,ve seen some people talking about this Like, for example, I've > seen people say if aked if its real they would reply well its in the > registry. Nonsense its either a Shelby or its not.Hell, I can even argue > both sides when it comes to my 4000. :) Greg HIM Greg: Some people seem to think that putting a car (i.e. a class or series of car) in the registry grants it some sort of legitimacy. That's a perception on their part. All we are trying to do is provide as complete a picture of these cars as we can. We want to define "what is" as well as "what isn't." We realize that when a car is "in the registry" it means something to the owners of those cars but that is an unintended consequence. It's a pleasant coincidence for them but it is not our goal. Rick I like his explanation when he said that some people seem to think that as soon as it is included it is somhow legit. Only my HO, go ahead folks, open fire. |
Man there's a lot of energy and time being expended over this. You guys do know that there's like, porn and stuff on the internet right?

A rather fine example of CSXR angst thankyouverymuch. :p |
we Kirkham owners have known the reason for the inclusion from the beginning, none of us harbor any feelings that now our cars are legitimate original cars or Shelbys ( apparently RK feels that way about any car that is not an original) , in fact we are getting a good laugh at the agonizing over this issue by many of you. I now will have two cars in the registry, my SPF Shelby Daytona and my Kirkham. One is a recognized Shelby product much like the CSX 4000 cars. What does it mean to me? didly sh..t

All of the 4000 guys are dicks, the only group who still have some class is the 7000 boys ....:3DSMILE: |
 Let 'em have it Allan.

Dicks? Even I said I argue that a 4000 isnt real and I own one. I would never say its real because its in some book. But I do enjoy the fact that having a CSX # might mean something to another person someday and do something for its value. When I get asked what it is I always give the explanation that is a later day car and was not built in 1965. As I see it by including Ks they are saying they are not real and want to see them remain not real.
|
And PS by the way, I love Kirkhams as well as ERAs, Shelbys and a couple of other replicas. I own a CSX but was in the market for an ERA. This car and I werejust in the right place at the right time. Kirkhams are awsome cars and would be very proud to own one.

If my Kirkham is not real, does that mean it's imaginary (iKirkham)?:D

I'll cut the snide and quite snobbish part of your response out for clarity, but since you did ask a valid question within it I'll respond as follows. You'll find me attached to at least three or four very real Shelbys, maybe more if you look hard enough. As for your new purchase, I'm envious, no really, I am. Bill S. |
I hope no one mistakes my Kirkham for a Shelby. How embarrassing would that be?
