I have a question or comment for all. When and where was the phrase ‘slabside’ adopted to describe the stock fender flares on a 260 or 289 street car?
The leaf spring cars had either 'street' flares or modified (enlarged) flares. The enlarged flares were added either by AC or Shelby or an individual that either wanted to go racing or wanted a 'racey' look. They took on several different profiles. The cutback door cars received what AC referred to as "wide rear wings". No where do I find the term 'slabside' used to describe the stock street car.
For what it’s worth, unless someone can find historical reference to the term ‘slabside’, I’d suggest using the term street car instead.
I will now climb off the orange crate:p

So I assume this classic bucket of bolts is in my neck of the woods somewhere...

The "L.A. Resource Program" writing above the number gave it away for me.

Psssst, Burbank, to put a finer point on the cars location.
Phrases and words take on their own meaning over time, and the meanings often continually adapt and change. Where ever 'slab side' may have originated, it's common use today is an accepeted expression denoting the early Cobras. Maybe someone 'had a dream' and thats where it started.

I have read the phrase applied here to all leaf spring street cars, not just early cars as in worm & sector or 260ci cars or pre CSX2200 generator cars.
As far as an accepted expression, perhaps on this site but not among owners of original cars.

I find it a very interesting question about the term "slabside". I have only been reading up on Cobras for a year now. I seem to read that term everywhere in every kind of article. I even read where the street cars were referred to AFFECTIONATLEY as SLABSIDE. I wonder what article that was?....LOL. What ever the proper term is. The small block street cars, aka slabides, are the best looking of the bunch. IMHO..........
One last thought, did the cooler get thrown in on the deal?

Well I would think the term slab side term would apply to ALL the pre 427 street cars. To me it simply denotes the slab on the fenders, not present in the FIA series. Sure, 'street car' would be accurate, perhaps more so. Thanks for that insight from an original owners perspective. The slab side term is widely used throughout the industry (SAAC uses it) and on many many other web sites besides Club Cobra.

That car has been sitting out in the weather for a long time.
It would be an interesting project.
Ernie, how old is this "$1500" price tag?

Purchasing this hulk and trailering it back to your own garage: $5,000.00
Cost of hiring and flying in one of the Kirkham's Polish bodymen to patch/repair/clean up the aluminum work: $20,000.00
Chasing down all the various components to make it a truly complete car: $100,000.00+
Cruising PCH in a mostly all original AC: Priceless :3DSMILE:

Compared to what I'm doing to mine, I doubt it. The purist do have a sence of humor here. Just don't be puttin one of them chebbies in it. Your starting with more original parts than most of the crazies around here have ever seen plus they've been hacked up already so do what you have to, it's your car.
