Looking for BBS-style gold "snowflake" rims

Having done a rather extensive rebuild on my Butler----I've decided that I'll try black as the color this time around. Big question is if I can find some of those (old) BBS-style rims with the "snowflake" center sections. One place I seem to see them all the time is on road-racing Porsches. A friend of mine who owns an old 911 has a set with the gold center sections just like the ones I'd like. They'd look great (I think) with the black body. I DO Have a set of Enkies which conform to this goal----but they're kind of beat up---possibly even out-of-round.

Do any of you guys know if there this type of 15" wheel is still being made and marketed? I would really appreciate a heads-up if so. Otherwise, I'm considering having someone rebuild and refinish the Enkies. If anyone knows a good (East Coast) outfit which does that type of work, I'd appreciate a heads-up on that, also.

Thanks for any info,

If you can work with 16s, you can use Lincoln Mark 7 LSC wheels, or Crown Vic/Grand Marquis HPP sport wheels. Both are basketweave style, and each has it's own offset so you've got two wheels to work with.

Fred...I ran into the same issue, that's why the other wheels. Never could find any (BBS or Enkei).

He's looking for some deep ones...Butlers have gobs of wheel well space for big tires.

The Crown Vic/Grand Marquis version has a much deeper offset.

...which "might" work for the front, but soitenly not the rear.

True, but a good rim repair/modifier can widen them to any size. Would still be cheaper than buying a set of new aftermarket wheels, and he could have them modified to any spec he likes.

Some older Pontiac Firebirds had a similar wheel and they also have the same bolt pattern of the Jag rears which I think the Butler has.

If I'm wrong then nevermind.

Well then, he might as well have the Enkei wheels he already has redone...

Rog...yup, Jag rear.

Interesting item...the fitment for the Enkeis he has were hand cut P7s.

I've got some on my 1990 BMW convertible. I bet some junk yard with an old Bimmer has got some.

Jamo 10-31-2007 05:18 PM

Might as well, Fred...any BBSs you might find probably need to be gone over anyway.

They sure were light.

joey_hv 10-31-2007 08:08 PM

Joey,

Those are spectacular. However, I still like the bright silver rime,m between tire and center section. That is just a minor matter, though. Those are eye-catching for sure.

Fred Douglass 11-01-2007 09:55 AM

Sorry aboot "rime,m" in the above, Joey---occasionally I lapse into my native Bafflegabbistan
language when I get excited, etc.! S'psosta be "rims". (Holy Shyte----there's a splchuqir on this rig, JAMO?)

Jamo 11-01-2007 10:28 AM

Yes...it has been outsourced to a gent in Bombay. He says "rime" is acceptable.
