CSX3032 Sold at auction - $52,300.00

I was at the Zephyrhills AutoFest yesterday and CSX3032 was sold at the auction for $52,300.00
Looked to be in good shape, not excellent.
They started it up before bidding started, but didn't drive it.
Had 1984 California License Plate
Solid red, no stripes, and sticker claimed 427FE side oiler and had webber carbs.
3 guys were bidding.
Compared to cars here and Cobra Country, IMHO seemed a little high.

$52,300. for a 3000 series CSX! Are you sure you got your decimal point in the right place?

Wasn't that the older ERA (Replica) with CSX# claimed on the sale? If my memory serves me correct it was a 80's ERA. This was a topic some time ago.

A true 60's S/C would be 20x that sale price.

At the Zephyrhills auction site they do list item 191 to be sold on November 10th as a 1965 Ford Shelby Cobra Convertible with a 427 side oiler no CSX number is listed and since it was not listed as having no reserve, I’m sure it had a reserve, but if it did sell at auction at the price listed the bottom just fell out of the price for original Cobras.

Easy fellas it was an ERA.

Maricopa 11-11-2007 08:03 AM

Easy fellas it was an ERA.

So why is BEH calling it CSX 3032? That's a lot to be wrong about. :D

BEH 11-11-2007 08:16 AM

It was item #191 and was described as a "Tribute" vehicle.
S/N stamped on metal tag in engine bay is"CSX3032" , I copied it down.
(I was sorry I didn't have my camera)
Metal plate also had SHELBY MOTOR VEHICLES, or something like that. (Didn't copy that as I had to borrow a pen & paper), but S/N definately correct.

Here was the previous discussion:

Pic are probably not there anymore on links. Come on now, how many replicas are titled as 1965 and have a CSX plate? MOST:D

My car is a 1985 however I do have a replica plate on the footbox passenger side. I know more guys registered as a 65 versus true build date.

BEH 11-11-2007 08:33 AM

Looking in the above noted thread this appears to be the car I saw.
Location of battery, fuse block, gold palted webbers etc all the same.

CSX3032 is still quite safe and sound in Boulder, I think. (or, Utah.)

Yeah, and little green men from the planet Glipto just landed in your back yard.

Oh, my God!

Jamo 11-11-2007 03:48 PM

Wasn't even a REAL "Tribute."

joey_hv 11-11-2007 03:57 PM

so...whats better a real CSX or an ERA?

Naumoff 11-11-2007 04:39 PM

An ERA is way better the a CSX. It is more fun to drive and you don't have to worry about it getting dents in it.:D

Than the sales price was way too low! :)

BEH 11-11-2007 06:40 PM

Correct me if I am wrong, but for that price you can get a new Backdraft, nearly new Super Performance etc.
Thanks

bmwdb10 11-11-2007 07:15 PM

Interesting and entertaining topic here.... Not sure about the rest of you guys, but sure I could tell the diff between even a good ERA and a CSX3K car. In a heartbeat! If I was there and it were the real CSX3032, I'd be worried about winning the auction now and getting the money later!

bmwdb10 11-11-2007 07:18 PM

Ooops... nevermind... I wouldn't have been there anyway! My EX lives in Zephyrhills!:D

Excaliber 11-11-2007 08:00 PM

I couldn't even begin to compare a Backdraft to an ERA. There not even in the same ball park, regardless of price. Quality, correctness, 'soul', not even close.
