Photo gripe
"We're sorry, but you currently are over your quota for allowed disk space.
Please remove images from your gallery to free up more space."
Too bad I cannot post the finishing photos of my build. I am in the final stages and just put my wheels on...trim and polish to come soon.

Was that today? I think that has been fixed. I had the same problem several days ago, and now I can load.
Deleting Pics?

Yes, tried this morning and just tried again...no dice. My gallery is not that large, and I did unload a couple of pics, but still a no-go. I even down-sized the last photo loaded awhile back. It's too bad, because the photo galleries are such a great way to share our cars and builds.

I agree!
I too am locked out unless I remove most of my pictures. It is unfortunate that it also requires individual deletion. That may take hours, I would just assume to leave it be and skip new posting of pics. Too bad during custom work, gatherings, or builds.

I think we need to sort some things out here....
Your Gallery has 102 photos and they are taking up 65 meg.
You are not a Contributor, so your actual quota is 20 meg.
You got up to 65 meg during the time that we had no limits in place.
As such, though, you painfully wasted so much space by uploading your build pics...with most at 800k per image!
Worse than that, though, from a space point of view....you just took the images that you already have online in your Fotki Gallery...and just duplicated them in your CC Gallery.
You could link those Fotki pics into posts without ever having to upload them anywhere else.
If your build pics were 80k instead of 800k in size....
...you could have 250 pictures in your gallery.

I think, Ron, that many people, like me, didn't even realize anything about photo sizes, etc. I turn on the camera, take a picture, put in on my computer, and upload here. 'don't know nuthin' bout pictures size.'
now 'we are' learning. bought two new digitals this past week. Had the sales clerk show me how to change image size on screen. Ok... now i'm getting there.
But... that, unfortunately doesn't solve the existing problem with our current galleries.
I just don't know what to do!!!!
overwhelmed with the daunting task of either deleting hundreds and hundreds of pics, or resizing hundreds and hundreds of pics.... or, the saddest part, just not adding any new pics at all.
Until i go to some 'off site' and join up, load up, and link to.
I don't blame ya'll; it's just for almost 4 years i haven't had any limits, and now i do. It's ok; i'll manage, but quite the SHOCK to MANY of us! It's really a 'catch-22' of sorts. The people with the big galleries that like to take pics are now the ones that are gonna 'suffer' (or be penalized in a martyr sort of way) and not be able to upload any!
wow! talk about withdrawal!!!!!
I talk with my hands... my pictures.... my stories.
but i'll manage!!!!

In your own case, I guess you could.
You are just slightly over 20 meg, the quota of a non-contributor.
There is supposed to be a fund-raiser soon... I guess if it's critical, you could contact Brent directly to be moved to Contributor status.
...but, (and I really hate to sound like a broken record).. you have 400k, 500k and 600k sized pictures in your Gallery that could be 1/10th the size and still look the same on anyone's screen.

Yes, I know. I also know that I got in this predicament through my own inattentiveness. That being said, I would still rather just "contribute my way out" of the problem rather than spend the time in front of the computer adjusting/reloading my photos. It should be easy to do; it's pretty easy to advertise on this site. I think it should be just as easy to buy extra photo space. That's what I don't understand -- usually people say "Yes, I'd be happy to take your money Patrick, please send it to me here."

Ron,
Is there a way to delete all my gallery pictures in one sweep? That would make life a much easier.
Thanks

Look, life sux, I had over two hundred pics all over 1meg each OOPS, I deleted them resized them. My gripe is that I'm only allowed to reload them 10 per day. That part of the deal rubs me the wrong way. I'm willing to become a contributing member if only someone would give me an idea of what would be an acceptable mount to contribute. I'm not a wealthy person but I'm not cheap either, also will that lift the ten a day rule. Patrick

Jeff don't delete them resize them then replace them in the edit controls, I believe that doing them this way you can avoid the ten a day limit don't make the same goof I did. Patrick

I will be spearheading the 2008 fundage drive. I hope to have all in order next week sometime.
I too am also a working man so I have made the same donation to CC than I did to SAAC and that requirement was $40 annually. I get daily fun from this site and only a lousy flyer every other month from SAAC. I donate to SAAC via their Mastercard which they get a % of at this point.
I figure that is a fair enough amount?

If I can click here http://www.clubcobra.com/modules.php...ertising_Rates and buy a banner ad with my Visa card why do we need to "organize a fundage drive?" People should be able to go there and pay with their credit card just as if they are buying advertising. For the life of me I don't see why this can't be that simple -- c'mon, we're not setting up off-the-books partnerships here, we just want to send CC fifty or a hundred bucks and not hear any more about daily limits or size limits. People that don't care about pictures can still just go there and give whatever amount they feel comfortable with -- the "fundage drive" can be as simple as pointing people to that page. This doesn't have to be a big deal.

Before this mess I had no knowledge of megs or 800k/80k per image. I'm a car guy, and the camera worked just fine out of the box. My 35 mm SLR was easy to use but a pain in the ass to develop photos just for me to look at.
As far as Fotki is concerned, I pay 30 bucks a year for keeping all my photos there, including my car stuff. I thought linking to my Fotki site reduced the image size?
I came here because I'm into Cobras and Ford stuff. I enjoy all the other galleries and hope other guys like mine. If you want me to delete all my stuff here, just say so. And what's this 'contributing member' all about? I'd never heard about being a paid member before. If you want some money for membership (or the privilege of a photo gallery), just say so also and I'll send a check. As far as megs and pixels, I'm just starting to learn about resizing my pics and just the other day changed the setting on my camera. The hard part is not knowing what's going on until something changes here. I'm still not sure how to correct my photo issues here, but I don't think I'm alone. You should be a little more understanding of those with less website constructing than yourself.

There are several free programs on the net to re-size or change the file size. I use Photo_Resizer\PhotoResizerFree.exe" . Do a search on
photo resizer, free downloads. It is pretty easy and self explaining to use while taking little memory space.
Hope this helps and keep in mind that a lower resolution photo if very special should be saved at a high resolution on disc or whatever for your own reasons and use. If just another photo then LOW res works great

A note about resizing. Leave your camera at the highest resolution seting possible. Then resize the picture with the program above for uploading. You want to keep the resolution high so you can have a good copy of the "prefect" picture that you can have blown-up and printed.
