Site perf improvements? Seem ok to you?

Just checking in to see if you're noticing site performance improvements. For me it seems much better and CPU utilization is down noticably...Quadcore AMD Opterons are NICE! :)

thudmaster 01-14-2008 03:18 PM

Nah, redo it....................of course its fine, most of us drive replicas.:)

wtm442 01-14-2008 03:23 PM

Quadcore AMD Opterons are NICE!

Are those aliens? Computer bots?
We want pictures if they are originals. Don't bother if they are replicas.

By improvements, do you mean "speed"? If so, I do not see much of an improvement. Some, but not a hugh change.

jdog 01-14-2008 03:37 PM

What time is it?

Brent, what time is it?

I don't want to know how to build a watch, I just want to know what time it is!;)

P.S. The site looks good Brent, now I won't be late for lunch!

xlr8or 01-14-2008 03:39 PM

Working fine here.

RodKnock 01-14-2008 03:54 PM

Less filling and tastes great! Brent, do you think you can somehow move those threads and PM's over from the temp site over to the new ultra-fabulous site?

Ron61 01-14-2008 04:18 PM

:)

Brent,

Everything is working great for me and I have noticed an increase in speed. Warren needs a new computer that runs on electricity. :3DSMILE:

Ron :)

Works for me!!

:D :D

I have noticed that pages seem to load a little quicker, but not a huge difference. I did not have a problem before, so it is hard to quantify an improvement.

cscobra 01-15-2008 08:16 AM

Definitely an increase in speed. Everything is working well. Congratulations on a job well done.

Don Nolen 01-15-2008 10:38 AM

Clean and clear here. Fast and furious with T3.
I was wondering what happened.
GREAT JOB!!!

BigGuy 01-15-2008 11:10 AM

Everything is working well for me and I have noticed an increase in speed on opening pages.

Looks like your hard work is paying off! Thanks

Hello Brent, glad you got the site back up, I just logged in and it says I haven't posted in a number of weeks, I last logged on in 2003! Oh my goodness. lemlem

Hey Brent...

On another related note...what sort of disk/type/configuration is installed now as compared to before; Raid-5, Raid-10, and speed? The CPU/RAM might not see a notable difference, as this site might not be really seeing much activity or is probably not that CPU bound (negligble) except for instance if a whole bunch of people were doing searches at the same time. Can you get status/counters on your hard disk read/write access times for read/write operations? Is it Win or Linux OS? Read times might be another helpful indicator of change/increase in peformance if you compared in the past...i.e. the hard disk is a whole lot slower than RAM, and the system wastes a lot of resources and takes a lot of time to move pages of data back and fourth between memory and virtual memory. Any idea if if your pagefile is at least 1.5 times size of RAM allocated? Maybe there is some more OS tuning is what I'm getting at IF by chance you are not seeing much of a difference on your end. Sounds like all is good though.. Good Luck. :D DC

decooney 01-15-2008 10:58 PM

B, I just did some more tests... Gallery and redirects to other sites seem to snap a bit faster. I'll try some strange searches and see how long they take. Too bad you did not have some test search data from before/after the cutover to the upgraded system. That would tell you some more... Looks good though. DC

decooney 01-15-2008 11:01 PM

B,
Tried a few different weird searches. Seems to respond without lag/delay from what I see on the user-end. :D THANKS, glad to see you guys made it out of the hole. :D

sp1410 01-15-2008 11:11 PM

Great job Brent. You turned the rotors on the hard drive, topped off the RAM fluid and bored it .30 over. It flies now!
