Team Shelby VS SAAC poll
Please do not respond just place your vote.
Respond on the original thread. Thanks Roger D |
If no one responds, your poll is going to get buried. How about a "neither" or "don't care" choice?
|
....added third choice.
|
Why need we need to keep this going on multiple threads? Isn't one or three enough?
|
Morgan, It was my fault for not including a poll on the original thread and I apoligize to all for bringing this up but it is much easier to see where the Club Cobra members stand on this by reading the first page rather than reading every post and adding it up. A lot of people will not commit if their name is attached, this poll solves that.

I am not surprised at the current results.

But it's a good thing the "I don't care" group was added. I think. Actually, I really don't care one way or another if it was added.
|
Do you think CS actually cares what people think ? It's just a matter of money and who's going to get it.
|
Did CS loan SAAC those douments? They write so in the Registry. Then, they should return them to Carroll Shelby.
Or, did they already sell part or all of them to collectors? I have heard reports from reliable sources that they have. If so, I am outraged as a member. Instead of asking for money for a lawsuit, why don't they let the members vote? Give back the documents or keep them? Do you think Kopec or Eber would ever let members research data in those documents-- and I don't mean Ford VIN's. It is good to keep some of the info proprietary, meaning VIN and personal names, et al. However, I believe most of these documents contain data that SAAC hoardes to themselves. If Shelby Automobiles had this info, it would be researchable by the cognoscenti and different publications, so that we would see more of the history written for our enjoyment. For Shelby disseminating information means more press and this is good for Shelby business. With SAAC, what is good for them is to bottle up the information so that only they can access it to make dollars. Nobody else can access it. Ask Kopec or Eber. If I am wrong about the ownership of these documents or the sell off or the accessability of the information, please post a response. Thanks. |
I've watched Carroll Shelby sign cars like your ERA Cobra, which isn't a Cobra, because he loves people so much. You write these nasty words about CS and still have the audacity to place Carroll's Cobra badge on your ERA? Buy a kit car and put a Ferrari badge on it and see what happens.

Clarification of "Shelby Letter" - R. Kopec, Dec. 11, 2007 |
Many historical documents are limited in their access for various reasons, doesn't mean anyone is hordeing them. Their value, their fragile nature, the possibility of theft. Sometimes a compelling reason for access (research) is required. There are many reasons to restrict or limit access to such documents.
Do you, Joewillie, have a compelling reason as to why you should be granted access? The attic documents are a very small part of the data collected over the years. Would you like access to ALL the documents SAAC has in it's possession or are they specific documents you would like access to? As you mentioned, some documents will NOT be available to just anyone as they contain highly personal information. Perhaps you could be more specific as to which documents you think should be made public? By the way, have you received any 'gifts' over the years? Perhaps you should return them if the 'giver' of such gifts should ask for them back, or maybe not, I don't know, I guess you could take the matter up with the courts and let them decide who the real and current owner is. |
Hey, I got a few questions for you. Do you call your "ride" an "ERA Cobra Roadster?"
Did you attach one of Carroll's Shelby Cobra badges to your kit car? If so, isn't this theft of the name Cobra? Is this a badge for you to show off at shows? My interest is to see the historical information in a responsible place. I think it was irresponsible and not in the interest of the history of our cars to give away documents, even cancelled checks. Is it no big deal to you if Shelby documents go here and there? Do you consider buying a Cobra replica okay even if the company pays Shelby nothing? Is your kit car- if it does carry the Cobra badge- any different than a watch with a Rolex name on it that is not a Rolex, but says Rolex on the dial? Is Rolex greedy? Is any company greedy because they built a brand name they market? Like other companies, Shelby employs hundreds of people. The brand name is a huge part of what brings them sales and keeps people working. The greedy and unfair companies are the ones that build knock-off’s of the Cobra and refused, when they had the chance, to pay a licensing fee. Where were these companies when Shelby was winning races and establishing the Shelby and Cobra brand names? I realize a lot of the people with kit cars cannot afford a real Cobra and are still true enthusiasts. You probably are. At the outside, don't attack Carroll Shelby. He has a big heart and loves enthusiasts. |
I believe Ford owns the cobra name not Shelby.
So Ford should be going after the badges. Shelby is going after his fans. |
Check your PM's Joewillie, I'll be more than happy to engage your questions off line or on another thread should you wish to start one.

Thanks, Ernie.
I was going to interject that this thread was simply a poll that Cranky omitted from an earlier thread he started. He asked for no discussion here. Good questions raised, but let's do it on another thread. thanks ron ClubCobra Moderator |

Joewillie,
I call my ERA a toy car. My wife calls it a noisy POS (she uses different words). Your right it's not Shelby and will never grow up to be a Shelby. I bought it because I like the old school ride, not because I wanted to fool people telling them it's a "real" cobra. Isn't a cobra just a fake AC? |
