Still running behind on the contributor stuff....but I have a note from the doctor.
Damn it, I went into this weekend with every intention of getting everyone recognized for their much appreciated contributions.
<sob story>I had a gallbladder attack Saturday night and spent 4 hrs in the most excruciating pain (say no to Claimjumper and their big desserts from now on), and then another 6hrs in the emergency room (second time in a year). Anyways, I have spent the day pretty well looped up with some morphine replacement stuff that is supposedly 8x stronger than morphine itself! WOW! It did reduce the pain quickly, which was nice.
Next step is removal of the gallbladder probably (if anyone has input on that procedure and/or it’s side effects, let me know in a PM), as I do not want to go through the torture another time.
Anyways, that seems like a better excuse than “I spilled coffee on my computer” or some such thing.
I will get to it this week. </sob story>

Get yourself well soon, Brent.
Enjoy the meds, and here's hoping that your nurses are cute (and friendly).

Brent,
Get well soon! My dad had a couple of gall bladder attacks, then a big old steak with a cube of butter on top (and a mud pie chaser) ended up being the catalyst to have surgery.
They were able to do his surgery using the Laparoscopic method, which would be the way to go if possible.

Brent, your health is always first and you might want to look at your diet. Exercise is excellent too. "Pre-Med, Pre-Law, same thing."
Before deciding on surgery, get a few opinions first. Good luck and good health.

Forget the computer for the next week. This is your doctor speaking. Since I will be removing an internal organ, are there any non-functional external organs you want me to remove?
Good Luck and take it slow and easy......

Brent, take care of yourself first, everything else can wait.
Side note, I miss Claim Jumper. I haven't eaten there in about 10 years.

Brent,
This sure seems like a lot to put yourself through to keep from giving Warren his "lost" trophies and his new one.
My sister had her's yanked many years ago and it was no big deal,at least it wasn't to me anyway. She has never had any ill effects from the ordeal at all.
Just take it easy, everything can wait.

Brent,
Take care of yourself first. I know a woman who had hers removed and she said it was a little uncomfortable for a short time, but nothing like the two attacks she had before having the surgery. Just take care of yourself and get well.

Brent,
Been there, done that. I had 4 total attacks before the took it out. The second one was like wow. 30 minutes in a ball on the floor absolutely pouring sweat, more than any workout I've ever had.
Laproscopic (sp?) is the way to go for sure. It still knocked me down for longer than the doc set my mind up for. I may have hurt it coming out of the general I guess I was trying to sit up. I remember the nurses saying somelike that this guys really strong we need him to lay down. Probably was working those abs in a bad way.
A few things that helped me.
1) Dont sneeze. I'm serious, figure out a way not to.
2) I found an ice pack and a small pillow with very mild pressure very soothing for about 3 days.
3) Think about sleeping in a recliner or something if you have one thats comfy and easy to get in and out of. Laying down and sitting up in bed hurt.
Yell if you want to chat about it.

Just get a Replica gall bladder -
It's cheaper, better assembled, fits better than the old one and will handle Claimjumper desserts better than the old one!

Brent,
Don’t worry about this site. It will be fine. Take care of yourself. Not that my thoughts mean anything but generally when patients ask me, I tell them if their gal bladder is truly bad and causing trouble, have it removed while it is still an elective procedure. Do not take it lightly, though. It is surgery and there are genuine risks but most people do very well and the surgery is much better than more attacks.
My wife had hers out several years ago—laproscopically and within a week was up in the barn loft throwing hay down to her annoying horses. She is a very unique person though.
God bless and thank you for being you.
Rick
