Emblem Dilema
As I start to prep my car for paint by completing the final mock up, I have come upon a challenging question regarding the emblems I will use. Will I use the "cobra" emblems I bought or with all the hoopla going on about name usage, would it be more appropriate to use an "AC" badge as I am sure they won't mind if I put their brand on my kit. Maybe I should go emblemless? What are the thoughts of the folks on the board? Any of you having similar issue?

Use whichever one YOU like best.

Emblem Dilema
It's your choice: "AC" or "Cobra". Whichever works best for you.
I don't think the company that sold you the emblem had any hesitation. |
Reasons to use a Cobra emblem:
Honor Carroll Shelby by putting an emblem on a nice replica. Piss Carroll Shelby off by putting an emblem on a nice replica. Reasons to use an AC emblem: To piss Carroll Shelby off by dissociating the Cobra shape from Shelby American. To honor the many craftsmen at AC that helped design such a beautiful car. Reasons to run sans emblem: To honor Carroll Shelby by not putting an emblem associated with him on a replica. You're pissed at Shelby over the SAAC, and you don't want to honor Carroll Shelby by adding an emblem associated with him to such a beautiful car. I thought about this myself. About a year ago I decided to not put an emblem on my car out of respect for Carroll and his frustration that replicas were getting emblems. This attitude has changed. I now plan on leaving an emblem off my car because I don't want to honor Carroll by putting an emblem on such a fine car. A statement, of sorts. Not a burning statement, just a disappointed shrug at Carroll for the latest SAAC debacle. DD |

on another note; I like the thought of honoring AC and the craftsman that made such an amazing looking car. If you think about it, the silouette of the car is what makes it so alluring (coupled with the powerplant). I started my build as a way to honor the great CS and was later dismayed that my tribute might be viewed as an insult. Now I try to think of my build as a personal challenge of doing something that was beyond my reach....more of a mountain to climb. Lots to think about; maybe I should make an emblem of a mountain....kidding. |
I'm considering getting a custom "Tojiero" emblem made. The original design was Tojiero.
Of course, the Tojiero design was a "kind of" a copy of a barchetta design, so maybe a "Barchetta" emblem is called for... |
Dangerous Doug now moving dangerously close to a Ferrari emblem as he traces the history deeper and deeper.
I would have considered running the ERA emblems on my car, does Hurricane make any emblems for theirs? |
I have Roush emblems on my superformance mkIII...........Jack Roush does not care......:LOL::LOL:
|
My decision was no hood/trunk emblems. I like the look without the emblems.

Cobras everywhere for me !
For my Cobra,i will put the "Cobra" on the front, "powered by Ford" on the sides since i put a 302, "Cobra" on the steering wheel cap, "Cobra" shifter knob and last year i even got this awsome "Cobra" tattoed on my chest and stomach, ouch i wouldn't do it again,6 hours of torture (in two sessions) but am i pround of that one, that attracts a lot of attention, yes sir. Not for the whinners though,my tatto artist told me it would hurt, she didin't lie.

Jack would care if.......
"Jack Roush does not care"
Roush would care if there were 10,000-15000 replica's out there running his emblems and he was not getting any profit from them!;) This is really the root of a lot of this for Carroll. |
I decided not add any emblems to the body. I've got AC caps on the wheels and an AC cap on the center hub of the steering wheel.
I do have floormats with the Cobra emblem. |
I did opt for the "AC" cap on the steering wheel...
Heh, heh, heh... Hhmmm, a Ferrari emblem... I wonder if people would still walk up and ask, "Is it real?" |

Did any of the originals have "AC" emblems on the hood/trunk? Or anywhere? I didn't think they did, but I'm not sure.
I have AC centercaps on the wheels, not that that's accurate... |
Morgan, maybe I should have said he sent me the Roush emblems for my car.......therefore its a Roush and not a $helby.......sorry
|
I have no emblems at all on mine, but do what YOU prefer.....

I'd like to find a nice high quality original style Cobra emblems, the ones that are mostly Blue with red outlining....

Yes the early Cobra emblem was cool and would certainly stand out on a Cobra. Of course that emblem was long gone by the time the 427 S/C arrived on the scene.
