Check out the ads here and on Cobra Country.com. Yup it's a buyers market right now there are some great buys. FIA's are a bit on the scarce side though.

Kasi 05-20-2008 03:18 PM

contacted the seller of the blue FIA it is not up for sale anymore ,he wants to keep it

Ditto what G.R. said.

You might want to contact some of the manufacturers that make 289 FIA cars. There are a dozen on my Cobra Manufacturers list.

Well you might be able to pry my hands off my FIA if your serious. It's an ERA and it's getting put together as we speak. I had it for sale last year with a lot of interest, just nothing very serious. I got frustrated and just started putting it together myself. Let me know, Matt.

Kasi, My advice is to investigate all the aspects and details of shipping to Aruba, know the exact details of the importation prior to purchasing the car and all the costs.
Next I would determine what I need, do I require windshield wipers, maybe a top, perhaps a good std. engine, one that parts are readily available, and insurance requirements.
I'm sure you have done all this, but it was just a thought so everything will go as planned.

Now most of the replica cobras are good, but you need to decide if an authentic body shape is important, what type of wheels, and the type of transmission you desire. Do your research on all the makes, check Cobra Country on the web and ask all the questions you can.

If you do some of these things your Cobra experience will be wonderful and will help generate additional knowledge thus making your choice the right one for you.

Best of luck, Bill

Thanks Bill ,I will do so and hopefully i get the right car .

I built this FIA over 6 years with the best of everything and sold it to Stush.

Lots of blood, sweat and tears went into this car, 1 of 7 Contemporary FIAs ever built.

My friends 289 CSX8000 series 'street car' is noticably smaller in the interior than a 427 body style. Is that typical for all the 289 based bodies (FIA or street)? Are the deminsions smaller over all than a 427 based body? Perhaps the Shelby CSX8000 series version is unique in that regard (smaller)?

I would consider a FIA/Street 289 style body, but NOT if it's smaller (interior) than a 427 style.

With the size of Aruba, you could drive all around the island in about a half an hour.

Then what?

Excaliber 05-21-2008 11:47 AM

...makes Hawaii sound downright HUGE. :D

You done good, John - one of the nicest FIA's that I've ever seen. My CCX is still a pile of parts.
