Well pushing to get the Cobra ready for London, last night it final assembly was completed enough to go for a real test ride. Drove about 6 miles and started to run pretty good, originally had some misses but after a little drive and getting the feel they seem to go away. A couple trips through town, heading home hit the nice flat open road and just couldn't resist getting on it just a little, dropped into second, gassed her up, a quick force back into the seat then...then... nothing, I was rolling, heard one small ckank of metal hitting metal but other then that nothing. No noise, no grinding, no banging, the engine ran good the car jsut would not go. Well good thing I joind AAA plus last month even though I was only a mile from home.
Get her up on the quick lift and the axle running from the rea end to the wheel was broke in hald, I guess thats why they call them half shafts
Oh well, looks like it was just a bad weld job when they were shortened to fit by the manufacture. Dropped them off at a local welder to hopefully get fixed today so I can get it back together to make it to London and at least drive around. All I need now is some luck and time
Already making plans to tear the other side apart in the future when a little more convient so it can be beefed up, I assume it is in the same conditione and is only a matter of time and torque before it breaks.
Well hope it all works out and I can have it at London for the first time.
Jim
