Butts, rearends, etc
I have always wanted to post this topic for discussion but hesitated for fear of starting a holocaust. After the ERA vs SPF thread, I think we can handle it without taking it personally and going off the deep end. Its come up before but only really in limited reference to one or two brands of replica. Its the perky butt thing. FFR, yes and lately SPF, but what about others - like EM and (dare I say it?) Contemporary? Contemporary is commonly referred to as the most accurate replica, splashed from an original, etc. While I agree that they are usually beautifull executed cars worthy of much of the praise heaped on them, every picture I see of one shows a pronounced upturned butt. I have seen many pictures of originals and their subtle variances, but never have I seen one with such a kicked up rear end. EM, too, strikes a similar pose and their rear quarters look authentic enough, but raised and upturned from the doors back almost as if they were cut off and grafted back on to clear a higher mounted frame/tank/rear suspension. Once again - no criticism of these marques, just curious about the shape and whether anyone else has noticed...
Here's a contemporary "ASSuming the position".

ERA captures the "down in the dumper" look quite well.

Here's a bare naked Kirkham for reference.
What do you guys think? I hope it will not be seen as unpardonable blasphemy to question the shape of a Contemporary, BUTT I've always wondered how that look could have come directly from an original CSX3--- car.

Could do I guess, Ron. Brent and the moderators shouldn't mind too much if it's all in the name of science and all.....

AHEM!!
DO NOT BE TALKIN BOUT MY BABY,S PERKY BUTT!! Just tryin to maintain the BIG ATTITUDE around here these days
Butt seriously I noticed something like that for a long time ,
"just couldn't put my finger on it "
I think after looking at the very different appearances even within a manufacturer it has a lot more to do with suspension set and tire and wheel size .
cept maybe that hunter

Al, that's the REAL, original perky butt that all others can only dream of imitating!
Aumoore - nice drooper on that Hunter. Bill's Midstates looks pretty sexy, too.
Karl, talking about suspension set, I may have to raise my rear end just a bit although I want to avoid a pronounced "nose down" attitude. I had the opportunity to have a "spirited" run in the company (not for long) of a lowered, souped up looking Miata on a quiet section of road the other day and on the really hard, fast turns my outside rear tires rubbed in the wheelwells. Up goes the rear.

Buzz,
That Contemporary in picture # 1 clearly has the wrong rear springs. My Contemporary sat that way until I installed the correct springs.
Some of the Contemporarys were sent out of the Shop with Jag. Springs rated for a 4000 lb. car. Builder screwup.

Buzz:
Hate to contradict you, but the picture on the first page of this thread you have labeled as an original CSX is really ERA #326
