SPFvsBDF

Love to hear from owners of both and what helped make the final decision. Both vehicles seem to have a lot of advantages. What to do! Thanks

poisonsnake 07-20-2008 06:11 AM

SPF or BDR?

peters44 07-20-2008 06:29 AM

That was one of my first post also
Both great cars, you will pay More for the SF. I went with the Backdraft for a number of reasons local support played a big part in my decision.
Good luck
Peter

Buy both and don't worry about it.

PHM 07-20-2008 08:55 AM

I went with the Superformance, after looking at both there is something about the BDF's front end that isnt right. Something with the headlights and marker lights are not even and after i noticed it i could not forget it and went with the superformance.

madmaxx 07-20-2008 09:34 AM

I owned a BDR and now own a SPF. Each worth exactly what you pay for them, in other words a SPF is 10K more and worth 10K more. I find the SPF to be a very very solid car with the right ergonomics for my ever expanding mid section. No vibration, my bdr had some, I go over railroad track in the spf just letting off the gas, in the BDR I would come to a crawl for fear of damaging something. I had an earlier BDR so I am sure alot as been improved but my SPF has no panel rubs, no rattles, beautiful smith instrumentation and a populated dash with defroster and heater controls, foot well vent controls and comes standard with top and tonneua although I will never ever drive mine in the rain.

BDR sell a little faster since they are at a lower price entry point. You cannot go wrong with either.

I love the big fat rear fenders on the BDR's, appear a little lighter and nimbler car.

Either way do your best to get a Roush 427 SR/TW, you will need it if you sell to differentiate yourself and maintain value. The market is saturated with middle of the road builds.

poisonsnake,

Since you are in OH, come down to the shop and drive both. I have both a superformance and a Backdraft here in the shop. Give me a call

SPF or BDR

We can get you into a new SPF with one of our 408/ 535HP engines for 57,900.00 complete and into a Backdraft for about 9,000.00 less. These would be new cars with nice equipment. You can read more about the SPF deal on our website at www.keithcraft.com. Why buy used when you can get new for about the same money and get a better package. Good luck, Keith

madmaxx 07-20-2008 02:54 PM

I agree with with KeithC8,

It appears eveyone wants what they want TODAY, which I like alot when I have what they want, if you do not mind waiting a couple three months go new and on the upper end cars you will be within 3K of used and in some cases the same. The key to new is your installer if you are going "complete".

I have no doubt Keith Craft of Arkansas knows what he is doing from his posts on this sight. I also highly recommend Dynamic Motorsports in Cincinatti, Ohio. Shane Miller with Dynamic delivers excellent service during selection, ordering, delivery and follow up after the sale and some really attractive pricing and comming from a pain in the a$$ like me is saying something. I visited Dynamic when I picked mine up but the next one I would have no issues ordering a car from Dynamic sight unseen and having it delevered.

Both are great cars, you are not going to live forever, bite the bullet and have fun!!

I thought the BDR has a 92 in. wheelbase. To my eye, stretching a cobra compromises that beautiful shape. Anyway, do your best to get a Keith Craft motor.

How about SPB vs. BDS?

Now that will take some to research and decide :)

Sharroll Celby 07-21-2008 04:52 PM

Or BVD's compared to FTL!!! lol !!!

D-CEL 07-21-2008 07:00 PM

Poisonsnake,

I recommend you put them both up on a lift and look at the chassis differences. I have am SPF and have spent a considerable amount of time working under a friends BD. In my opinion the extra 10 G’s is money well spent (if you have it). The SPF chassis is much nicer, better thought out, easier to work on, and can be considerably less expensive if your modifying or repairing. (Ford and Wilwood vs. BMW)

Blittleton 07-21-2008 07:41 PM

Poisonsnake,

I have done work on both, I really don't agree with everything D-Cel says. I have pulled transmissions out of both, let me say that it is more work to pull it out of a SPF than a BDR. I don't want to get into one opinion over another, come and see me at my shop. Both are great cars and deserve your own opinion to really justify anything you want to know. I'll put both on the rack for you, at the same time. I will not give you a one sided byas opinion. Some things on the SPF I really like and some are over rated.

Sorry to hear you had to pull a transmission out of an SPF :CRY::CRY:

madmaxx 07-21-2008 09:25 PM

I would take Blittleton up on his offer. A "picture" is worth a thousand words but a drive is worth more and I am sure if you are serious he will either take you for one or let you put around somewhere.

Got the Bug 07-21-2008 09:34 PM

I love my Superformance, but I'd also love to have a BDR GT40. Hey Jay, how about 20 year financing on that GT40 with the heritage paint job?

RedBarchetta 07-21-2008 10:53 PM

I find it amusing that both Backdraft dealers are accentuating one supposed flaw of the SPF, that it takes a little work to remove a tranny from them. BFD!

Excaliber 07-21-2008 11:18 PM

My friend needed to remove the tranny (T5) from his older FFR and asked for my help. I took a look, I'd rather run naked through thorn bushes than help with THAT project!
