At the present price it is a steal, but keep in mind that although they are licensed by Shelby (very long story), they are NOT a shelby Cobra. They are a very nice and well built car in their own right and Olthoff does a great job from all accounts on this forum.
Also, though it is licensed in the owner's state as a 65 Cobra, it may or may not be able to be licensed the same in your state. Just a matter of a bit of paperwork, and/or having to possibly add pollution equipment- depending again on your state's requirements. Bob |

Thanks for the insight.....the one hesitation I have is the registration - pollution considering I'm in California and would prob have to get it SB-100 certified. I'm in the market for a used Superformance....this one at the price is a bargain in my mind. Just questioning if it's worth the headaches of registering in CA |
jdogginla,
You shouldn't have a problem buying an out of state car and walking it through the SB100 process, as long as the car is legally registered in the state where you buy it. If Michigan legally registers Cobra replicas as "1965 Cobras", then you should be fine as long as you follow the SB100 process (i.e. register the car in CA as a specially constructed vehicle and not mis-represent it as a 1965 Cobra). There's a number of SB 100 cars for sale on CC and Cobra Country right now. Have you looked at all of those? :) |

I have checked Cobra Country and will continue to look there. Most of those are out of my budget as most seem to be in the 50k range. IF i found a must have I could probably swing a lil extra dough. I have been waiting for some time and will continue to wait to find that killer deal as the market is a little soft right now, they seem to come along a little more often right now. |

Buyer beware...if it's titled as a '65 or '66 and it's not real (original), and you're bringing it into CT., you're not gonna get it done. It pays to do it the right way. |
If all your ducks are in a row the SB100 is a piece of cake,,,albiet a lot of stress. I would say it's worth the trouble. Sort of like a hazing. Good luck!

Zoera-Ct is doing it the wrong way.As they do everything in that state.
Got the bug-It doesn't matter how legal you are in another state.California is so arrogant they think they get to tell other states how to register they vehicles. |

You can buy a new one or could a month ago from Dynamic in Ohio for 50K with a PE 351 engine with the same output. Smoking deal do not know if they are still offering it. This means the highest I would go on this car if it is exactly what you want is $42,500.

The trouble with you is that you lack the power of conversation but not the power of speech. Every time you post you subtract from the sum of the knowledge on CC. __________________________________________________ _ Back to topic-the "number" of the SPFwill also tell you a bunch about the car. |

Keep the opinions relating to the question, OK? thanks ron ClubCobra Moderator |
Sorry for the acrid air CW, not my intent to sidetrack the thread.

It's a Superformance what can you say. It seems cheap at $33k with less than a day left but then times are tough. Happy Bidding.
SB-100 is easy. Get to the DMV on December 30th and bring your tent or give one of the bigger builders in the state $$$$ and they will give you one of their numbers. (is this still a secret?) Oops. BC's wife still has a bunch I bet. |
Hello,
It's still at < 34,000. So it still is a good deal and I'd agree with the previous poster that bit below 40,000 is a reasonable area for the car. He seems to be responsive to requests for photos and has good feedback, always good signs. Cheers, Mike |
Wow, if it don't start going up in price, i will be bidding. Anything under 38K is a smoking deal on this one. Looks like another night in front of the computer. I'll slap on some new ford racing valve covers, clean up the oil pan, detail and list for 43500 and hope to make 3 or 4K.
|
Hello,
Agreed, the valve covers needed help and showed some pitting. But the rest of the photo's looks nice. A motor is often 30% to 40% of the 'price' of a Cobra, so it needs to be 'sharp'. While the motor is not quite in the 30 to 40% range, in this cobra...still should look sharp. My guess for ending bid: 36,600.00. A roller is 35k, subtract 10k miles and add a modest motor/transmission/installation and that's my guess. reasonable price, still a bit of summer left, if your close to the car and can keep transport reasonable...bid. Cheers, Mike |
