You gotta be kidding me! Pit Stop deodorant?
http://cgi.ebay.com/Carroll-Shelbys-...QQcmdZViewItem
Now I've seen it all.. Really..., you gunna buy this?? It has divorce written all over it. Oh, but I guess "REAL1" will have to have it..:) |
Seeing that the can was filled in 1966, I bet there is no aerosol left in the can. But it would make a nice conversation piece sitting on the coffee table in the living room.
|
Damn, I just threw out a case of old deodorant.
I need to keep up with the times.   |
now just whoa there turbo.....
i dont think i ever had nor met anyone that buys deodorant by the case. and second has it long enough to have to throw it out. is there something you'd like to tell the rest of us? |
I think the Chili should have come first...then you'd need the Pit Stop to cover the odors,LOL. Was it REAL Pit Stop or a replica:)
|
Since this was recently discovered, shouldn't it be "continuation deordorant"?
|
You know the REAL funny thing is you guys are making fun of a man, who but for him you wouldn't even have your beloved replicas (I notice none of you own Shelbys...what a surprise and coincidence ) of his Cobra new or old, replica businesses as the case may be or the Cobra history and legend that you all revere.
When any of you attain the successes he's attained and American automotive history then perhaps you have standing to ridicule his business ventures until then...candidly you look silly perhaps even disrepectful and ungrateful. Midgets nipping at the heals of a Giant and legend. My read. Sad. |
Part of being a celebrity is being open to jokes and ridicule. If not then Jay Leno and others would be out of work.
|
Afer a hard day at the "salt mines", I really look forward to reading what Mr. Sunshine (aka Evan/REAL 1) has on his mind.
I think we need a "sticky" thread where no other members can post and REAL 1 can write his manifesto without interruptions. A little controversy is good and keeps things lively, but please go back on the meds man! It's a joy to have you around sport! :3DSMILE: |
Ah, yes, Very true.
However, difference is its kinda sad when it emanates repeatedly on a site dedicated to the Cobra, replicas thereof and promoting the hobby, the legend and the car. Again, my read. |
I am new to this, but I now know the rumours are true. There is no common ground between Replica owners (who I feel pay the highest homage to the car) and real Shelby's. Why do the real Shelby owners act like they don't smell and they have blue blood?

Sorry guys, and I am not even sure why I am apologizing, but I have to agree with 'Real 1' here. I have always read with interest the almost continuous knocking of Caroll Shelby on this site. Let's take a look at the accusations that...
a) he is a grumpy old man b) he tries to make money off his name and reputation c) he frowns on 'replica builders' who rip off his name and marque d) etc. so what? Compared to most of us... 1) how many of the folks on this site have an American institution named after them (Shelby Cobra) (and which everyone on this site loves passionately!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) 2) actually, MULTIPLE institutions, named after him!!! 3) I am 58 years old, with a fairly good resume and history (shi!t, I even come up if you Google me...ROFLMAO!!!), and I AM A GRUMPY OLD MAN, and (other than in my own mind) I am not that famous, but still I b!tch about stuff. (irresponsible young people, people who end sentences with 'at', people who say 'comprised of' (aaaaaaaaaaaaaaagh...THAT is not even English), people who wear hats in restaurants, people who use adjectives where adverbs are required ('he hit it good'....aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaagh...WELL)...etc, etc.). He has EARNED the right to be a GRUMPY OLD MAN...in spades!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Dear god, leave him alone, LET HIM DO WTF HE LIKES, wait until YOU ALL GET THIS OLD!!!...:D In a similar vein, I know Lance Armstrong here in Austin, and he suffers from the same BS reputation. He beat cancer, won the Tour de France 7 times, and yet people accuse him of being arrogant and distant. F**k it people, if I had beaten shingles and could even ride a damn bike, I would be the most arrogant man on the block!!!! I wouldn't even talk to you mere mortals!! I truly realize that my chances of quashing disparaging remarks about Carroll Shelby on this site are approximately ZERO, (especially, as an Englishman, I still think he ripped off an Auto Carrier classic and never gave them enough credit...ROFL... which is why MY snake (REPLICA!!!) has AC logos, NOT Cobra logos...check out my pics), but ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! if you are not Colin Powell, Mahatma Gandhi, Mother Teresa or someone with an equally famous reputation for being a nice person AND doing good works, them MOVE ON! :) Glyn PS, this posting is the result of a) old age, b) too much Scotch at a late hour and c) a REALLY bad day! PPS talking of attitude, if I owned a real Cobra I wouldn't even talk to the rest of you peasants...lol PPPS when it is called a Smith Cobra or a Williamson Cobra or a Cooper Cobra, then the Smiths, Williamsons and Coopers of the world may b!tch! PPPPS No offense meant to Smiths, Williamsons or Coopers...:D PPPPPS sarcasm is an English hobby!!!! |
I mean no disrespect to CS. But it was not any of "us" who came up with the idea to market a deordorant based on a car.
I must say I am honored to be in REAL 1's presence. It is not often that I am able to sit at the knee of a truly superior mind and learn so much. How can all of that knowledge reside in just one skull? And to be the defender of all that is true, beautiful and with none of the flaws that pull the rest of us down to being merely human. I am truly amazed. I hope you continue. I honor you. |
Evan is good for this forum. Debate is what forums are meant for. It's just a bonus that you pretty much always know which side of the debate table he will be sitting on.
And what's wrong with poking fun at celebrities? How many times have you seen a news article on Paris Hilton and thought "What a dumb drunken slut" or Brittany and thought "How could someone so successful and famous do such dorky things?" |
I could not agree more with Evan...the only problem I have with him is his signature...
"Rangers lead the way" Never forget those who gave up their "tomorrows" so that we could have our "todays" Army Rangers...72 virgin dating service. Want 72 Virgins? Want to meet Allah? They'll hook you up!" I hate posers. REAL Rangers do not post Bull Sh#T like this...they don't have too. |

(Thanks you for toning down the original uncalled-for epithets) DTurnbull started the thread to show a piece of memorabilia that was on eBay and commented that he'd have trouble on the home front paying $50 for a 40 year old spray can. NONE of the posts up until yours took any shot at CS, the history or the legend. Yet you swoop in and make another declaration. Only, this a.m., did I see how you were mistaken in your assessment. On the Autoweek thread, you state: Quote:
If you took a moment to read the description of the listing: Quote:
I suggest you give it a rest for a while, since you seem to be in a pretty defensive mood...now firing wildly at anything that moves in the area of your core beliefs. |

Continuation cars ARE replicas!!
|
I didn't link to the ebay item, but have several old magazines with the ads in them. I'm glad Ron pointed out it was an OLD(very, very) item. I thought from Evan's post that it was a recent redo.I like the WHO, but was all over them getting sponsored by Budwieser a few decades ago.I'm sorry that Evan didn't see the humor in ....just the name...Pit Stop.. it cracks me up. But so did Hai(sp) Karate.

If you use that deodorant, do you smell like 40 weight? (That's a joke, not a derogatory comment!) |
