Wrecked SPF

You folks seem to have plenty of time to come up with some stories.
What the heck happened here?
Anybody from this group??

Got the Bug 09-14-2008 03:04 PM

The car appeared on eBay a couple of weeks ago and there was thread on CC about it.

I don't think anyone had any info on what happened. The ad says it's "rebuildable." I guess you could rebuild one side and use it as a movie prop.

BTW - You're link didn't work, but I'm guessing it's the SPF that you're talking about.

I hope there wasn't anyone in the passenger's seat...

That car is trashed! The owner should consider some time with Bondurant or Barber before getting another one!

Bailey 09-14-2008 03:28 PM

Yeah, "rebuilable" seems a real stretch. Someone will buy it, and use one or two bits..

Blas 09-14-2008 03:41 PM

Anyone get the car # ?

ENTDOC 09-14-2008 03:44 PM

probably got distracted by the ugly steering wheel and shifter knob

Got the Bug 09-14-2008 05:37 PM

No reserve, and the bid is at $4,650. So someone is going to at least get a Roush 402R, a transmission, and the one other part on the car that hasn't been mangled.

1985 CCX 09-14-2008 05:43 PM

Seems like a deal for the motor......not much left of the car.
Hope the driver was ok?

Stentor 09-14-2008 06:02 PM

Ahhh...that scheit will buff out.

Got the Bug 09-14-2008 06:05 PM

$6,210 takes it.

marky 09-14-2008 06:11 PM

I was going to bid but the transportation would have been crazy expensive for a non running car, non rolling car
The car was a steal at the price. from recollection it had a tremec.
Figure bellhousing and tranny are worth $2K, then that engine was worth the selling price. That means he got the rest for free.

So you know how this happened?

The only thing we know for sure is it has a very different paint job.

It could have been a good buy for motor, tranny, and any undamaged parts if you were close enough that having it hauled home didn't run the price out of sight. Anyone know what he hit or what hit him?

That's what made it "one of a kind". :D:eek:

and only a couple of bids on the last day. I was going to jump in at the end and I snoozed on it. oh well.

RedBarchetta 09-15-2008 10:11 AM

I hope the buyer decides to part it out and make his/her intentions known on this web site. There are lots of components and little fasteners here and there that would be good to pick up at a discount.
