They Call Him CJ

I wanted to take a minute of everyone's time to tell you about my grandson, CJ. He is 9 years old. He has had chronic backpain for a few months and after a few trips to the emergency room where nothing was found, a denied MRI for a couple months, and then finally an MRI last Friday, he was taken straight from the test by ambulance to Joe DiMaggio's Children Hospital. He loves the Yankees though so I'm glad that is where they took him. He has cancer in his spine and in his kidneys and this morning they are doing another MRI to see if it is in his brain or lungs or any other part of his body.
I'm sure lots of you guys have little boys so you can imagine what Mom and Dad are going through. It has been a trying week so far and CJ has had to learn new words like tumor, IV, oncologist, MRI, biopsy, port -- you get the picture - words that don't match with a 9 year old little boy.
Iam boldly asking for all of your prayers for CJ. We believe in the power of prayer and we know that God is the Greatest Physician and makes all final decisions. Please think of him as he will be having some surgery tomorrow and then begin his chemo. Chemo, that is another word we haven't told him yet. Maybe today.
CJ believes in all is heart that God is with him and while he prays for his healing he spends most of his time praying for his Mom and Dad, his brothers and sister and friends. My daughter has started a blog at

He has written some poems over the last 9 months and I wanted to share them with you as you start your day.
Turn on the Light, by CJ George
It was past midnight. My little brother was asleep. It was pitch black inside and out. I was hearing noises. I was scared. I did not know where to turn.
So I turned from my fear to God and He gave me the strength to overcome my fear and turn on the light. The next time you're afraid, turn to the Light and he will strengthen you to turn on the light.
"I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life." (John 8:12)

God Has a Reason by CJ George
A little boy and his dad went for a walk.
The little boy stopped and looked up. He said,
"Why did God make the sun?"
The dad said, "To give us light in the day." They kept walking.
The boy saw a tree and said, "Why did God make the trees?"
The dad said, "To give us oxygen." They kept walking.
The dad said, "Look at that deer."
The deer looked up and ran away.
The boy said, " Why did God make the animals?"
The dad said, "To give us food." They kept walking.
The boy said, "Why did God make me?"
The dad said, "The same reason as the sun, trees and the animals;
God has a reason."

There was God, by CJ George
There was God....
God created the Universe.
Inside that universe was a solar system;
inside that solar system was a planet,
inside that planet was a continent,
inside that continent was a country;
inside that country was a state;
inside that state was a city;
inside that city was a county;
inside that county was house;
inside that house was a boy;
inside that boy was a heart;
inside that heart.........
There was God.
