It was in the date code. It was in the place of what should have been the year code. The month and day code were regular numbers, it was only the year code that was odd. I've never seen the Omega sign used and since I know it was a factory service shortblock ( not cap screw rods) I assumed it to be used in service blocks...but that is just a guess.

Are you sure it's not a 0 with 2 dots underneath? Gotta pic?

I have pics, I documented it for the owner. It was definitely an Omega. I looked at it with a magnifying glass as did several others...Omega...definetly. Living in a College town for decades I saw many,LOL. I'll see if I can't locate the pics and post one. It's not relevant to the value of the engine( it had been grenaded, and repaired...including a chunk from the block skirt that wasn't up to containing a rod), but the oddity drives my curiousity.

I'd like to see those pics of the Omega. Here is a pic I found interesting....a dove stamped on the oil pan face of a 1965 HM block, just adjacent to the front main cap. This was a C5AE-G block, dated Jan 8, 1965.
