Went by at lunch time today to take a look around. There was a beautiful GT40 in Gulf colors out on the showroom floor and a MKIII & Coupe were being off loaded from a trailer ... all very beautiful cars. Nice folks to talk with and it looks like they will be fully up and running quite soon.

major balls to expand in this economy. It "appears" the MKIII market is holding on, but it also "appears" the GT40 market has collapsed with complete new cars with Roush 427s going unsold for 75k...that must be approaching the cost ?? I don't know, but I suspect that the current economy cannot support all of the manufactures and dealers.

Well said, I never thought I would see gt40's drop as they have. I agree the strong like spf will survive, others will probably go into hybernation until the storm passes. Has Roush started to discount their engines yet?

Lease rates for industrial, commercial and retail have dropped too, so maybe the rent is cheap. Dunno.

The GT40 for $75k is for a less popular MKII. Also, it price depends a lot on the type of build, but some sellers might be desperate and others may not be.

That they were acting foolishly. What I meant to imply is that they were acting boldly. Times of transition are times of great opportunity for those cool heads that have the resources and courage to act. To my knowledge all the replicar companies are privately held and therefore are not required to open their books . It would be interesting to see where orders and sales are at in the last 6 months. Perhaps this is a recession proof market. I wish them nothing but the best, I for one expect to continue to buy SPF cars and will definitely shop at Dynamic West.

$50K plus plastic cars are fairly recession proof. If anyone buys any cobra at any price without having zero debt INCLUDING their house paid off they are foolish idiots. These are non-essential toy cars, I would venture to say as useless as a boat. But if you got the green they sure are fun.

We've had this discussion on another thread some time back, but I really do appreciate you calling me a foolish idiot. Thanks.

Anyway, back to the thread, I'm looking forward to checking out the new facility, since I'm also considering buying an SPF GT40, but a MKI.

BTW, if you see a MKI for $75K, then I would definitely grab it. I would just put it on my Visa or MC. Maybe both.

I am also looking for a MKI and I am expecting to get one in the the next 6 months at a good price. I had no idea that there was a substantial difference in the price between a MKI and a MKII ??? I am going to consider all of the quality products from CAV, Backdraft, ERA ect.... I have my eye on the red one in Ohio. I know Max is also in the market

It's also an interesting strategy, considering the fact that there's a limit on the number of cars that can be registered in California each year. Seems as though Dynamic Auto West in Reno and Hillbank in SoCal would be sufficient to support the western region. Definitely a gutsy move. Best of luck to them!

For their long term strategy in CA, they should be following Tesla's lead and fitting lithium ion batteries to all SPF's.

They'd have to build a trailer to carry all of the batteries.

If you had more money than sense, it would be a cool project though.

BTW - There's a nice red CAV Mk1 for sale with SB100.

Aluminium toys? If I did not have my current cobra then sure, but no way can I afford both without debt especially since I require my self to have a year of living expenses in the bank as cash. This whole economy is cracked.

I think the prevailing opinion, and I may be over generalizing, is that the MKI looks better. All other parts and labor of the build being equal, you'll have more buyers for the MKI than the MKII and a higher price.

Based upon my knowledge, admittedly limited, and personal taste, I like the SPF and RCR the best. However, there are SPF's available right now and from what I read over at GT40s.com, Fran at RCR is having a hard time keeping up with demand, which is good thing, but I don't like waiting too much. Also, the RCR, while it could be built as a turn key by RCR, is generally noted as a builder-type car and that's not me.

ERA looks very nice too, but the wait is 2 years +/-. That's not me either.

I hope they'll have a demo SPF GT40 at Dynamic West in Redwood City so I can go for a ride.

They have one you can drive there and the roads to drive it on !! I have checked with most of the dealers and all of the sites I am aware of and there are very few cars out there (especially MKIs). I suspect because the dealers are managing their inventory. Good luck, let me know how it goes. Have you seen Pat's car for sale here ?? Check it out, was owned by the MAN himself.

As far as the GT40's I have to find one local I can take for a spin. There is no way I can take the chance, even it good markets they are not as liquid. The super cool thing is I can park the gt40 on the lift and the cobra under it or vice versa.

I bought my MKIII from Dynamic and picked it up in Reno, 800 miles. The dealer here in the Northwest wants $93,300 for a ROLLER !! The Dealer in Boise, doesn't have any in stock. Hell Reno is my local dealer...
