Todd, I've asked that question before and it's a waste of time. The purpose of that message wasn't to actually share that info to help "90%" of cobra owners. Those alignment specs are a closely guarded trade secret. It's been rumored that ole Shell has an assistant carry the specs around in a cobra "football" that's with Shell at all times. Also included in the Cobra Football is a paint pen and a Sharpie.

Kevin, that is not my 40. I took pictures of that car at a Daytona HSR race. If it was mine I would start every sentence with "That reminds me of the time I was driving my GT40..."

Who'd you ask for specs? Me, in this thread? I can't tell you what specs your FFR needs, I don't own one. I made a thread right after I had my car aligned with specs suggested by Tom Bernard raving about how much better it was. And my car was originally aligned by Billy Andrews, so it's not like some schlub aligned it originally.

The BEST place to get your specs from is a person or company that really races these cars. They will have much better specs than most cobra "builders" or do it yourselfers.

Just my 2 cents.

If you like vintage cars and tires, you might like the vintage look. Fresh white painted lettering sort of reminds me of Ronald Reagan's hair.
These tires (used) are free at vintage race meets. Stacks and stacks of them thrown out. No longer good for racing but fine for storage and a trip to the store. They are very lightweight tires, very thin (the race ones anyway). I have driven to Florida and back on them without a problem but then again, I am a fool. These tires were new in 2006 and only raced on for 2 heat cycles at Sebring. The car was also pushed around the paddock twice. Now I use them as street tires on another car.

Yeah, on page 3 and and in another thread. I wasn't the only one. No worries, Sal. I understand you don't want to share and that's fine. Regardless of who the manufacturer is it's helpful and interesting to compare notes. That's usually a good thing.

I mentioned previously that my specs are for my specific car, at my specific ride height, and for the driving that I do with the car. They would be useless to anyone that doesn't have a CSX 4000-4300 car, and at the same ride height. I told everyone that Tom Bernard at Tom's Motorsports helped me and to contact him for advice on your own car.

Every chassis sets-up differently and driver preference, skill and style have a great deal to do with it. And that's for the same equipment, that is... presuming even exactly the same mechanicals, which isn't very likely. Sticktion, draging, limits, concentricity, pick-up preferences and mods, center-lines and lots more affect final settings, when they cannot either be controlled-out of the set-up or ignored due to time or lack of knowledge...

i like things pretty twitchy to keep the tires hot up north, but some prefer more dynamic stability and less throttle over-steer down here in Florida in the summer to reduce tire temps. Now, when we go out with cold tires, in the cold, in a twitchy car, be careful on the first few laps, right? Plenty of dopes have lost it on the warm-up lap; but not me (yet, and close doesn't count). Plenty more lose it in the first corner after the spin for the same reason, forgetting tire condition and how it changes when cold or dirty.

Initial settings are just a recommendation and don't reflect anywhere near the whole story. Given the time it takes to find what's best for me, today, on this track and the seat time it takes to make intelligent choices, i would rather have an experienced professional show me how, on the payroll. That's just me, i guess.

Otherwise, we can get it in a book and experiment.

When you(and eveyone else) refer to the "Billboard" tires, are these the Bue Streak tires? Todd Buttrick, nice to see your name on a forum again. You probably dont remember me but we didi meet a couple of times. You were the reason I narrowed my rear end.

They are very close, but not exactly. Blue Streaks are Goodyear's G7, which only have a chicken-scratch tread, very close to a slick. "Billboards" have a decent tread in them. I'm told it's the same rubber compound, just different tread.

You are correct. Blue streaks also have a G7 or G12 lable. "Cobra" tires are the Billboard tires.
