SeaFoam
I'd like to hear any members experiences pro/con with the use of this old time product. Particularly, what purposes it's used for and the results achieved.
Not looking for magic in a bottle.:) |
But if anybody knows of any magic in a bottle- I would be interested in that!!

hello this Is Bryan from B&B manufacturing, we just built a 34 3 window coupe for the speed channel and Seafoam was one of the sponser, we put the engine adative in a 350 chevy for this episode of the show and I thought the stuff was amazing, I would recommend the product highly:

I have used it in my 04 Marauder and the Cobra......can't tell anything about use in the oil but I did use it in my Marauder's intake and it seemed to smooth the idle up quite a bit!!
I metered it in through the PCV vacuum fitting...shut the engine off and let it sit about 30 minutes......started it and smoked up the whole neighborhood!!:eek: Ugly stuff actually came out of the exhaust too....supposedly cuts carbon off pistons, valves and cylinder heads?? I feel like it improved performance some but with the supercharger it's really hard to tell??:confused: Coosawjack:cool: |
Would you users say it's like Marvel Mystery? Sort of "upper engine lube"?

Sea Foam
One Place Where I Find This Stuff Works Is In The Gas Tank Of My C5 Corvette. For Some Reason My Gas Guage Would Quit When I Got To About 1/2 Tank. I Put Some Sea Foam In And It Cured The Problem.

I bought a ruff 79 Ford truck with a 302 C-4. The motor would die while driving down the hiway. Hard to crank sometimes. Coach Mike put some Sea Foam in the fuel line and the rest in the gas tank. Problems cured. I had bought a rebuilt kit for the carb but after a couple of months I took it back.
Riding mower was running ruff and would die on me. Sea Foam cured the problem. I had never heard of the stuff before but now anytime I have a motor/fuel problem, I try the Sea Foam cure first. Great product For me it's "magic in a bottle" Dwight |
Maybe works OK in gas engines, but I've tried it in my diesel engine twice, and twice it clogged up the fuel filter. I think the best proven product like Seafoam is RXP.

I use it in everything to decarbon the cylinders. When I put the cobra away for the winter, I pour SeaFoam down the carb until the motor stalls (engine smokes like a bugger). In the spring when I start it, it will smoke for a few minutes until it warms up. I haven't pulled a head off to see if it removes carbon build up or not but the plugs seem clean.
I ran some of it through my 2 stroke weed wacker (it was running rough). So much carbon came out that it plugged up the spark arrester. After I cleaned the spark arrester out, the weed wacker ran like new. I also use Seafoam in my 2 stroke 250hp Yamaha outboard motor. I add it to the gas tank. Keeps the spark plugs running clean. |
I used it in a old 350 injected chevy motor to clean the injectors and smooth out the idle. I have to say it worked as advertised. Mileage went up, power increased, the idle smoothed out.. I won't call it magic, but it does what it says it does.

I used it and it cleared-up my complextion, freshened my breath and added 40 points to my I.Q.! (Sorry, I just couldn't resist....all though I didn't really fight it all that hard.)

Now I'm curious, I'll have to check out this stuff called Sea Foam..maybe it will help my jeep?

It contains Naphtha and pale oil, I'm guessing it's mostly the Naphtha which is a paint thinner?. Just another petroleum base product.

I found a data safety sheet on the internet about SeaFoam. The contents were listed as:
Pale oil - 40-60% Naptha - 25-35% Isopropol Alcohol - 10-20% It does remove carbon build up though! Paul |
